Card Printer

Please forgive me if this has been asked before but i was unable to find anything in a search. But what are you all using when printing ID cards? I know some are laminated which I have done in the past but others are printed on pvc card stock of some type and was wondering what printer you are using for this.. And does it emboss for lettering or does that require a whole different machine..

Thanks

You can find PVC Card Trays for most ink jet printers that have the ability to print onto CDs...
I know for example that you can get one for the Epson t50 ink jet printer for less than $10 on eBay but most per models are around $30. And PVC ID card blanks are pretty cheap on eBay too... Probably about $2 a card at small quantities.

As for embossing, that's a very specialised machine and will set you back about $400. Search eBay or amazon for "credit card embossing machine"...

I hope this was helpful.

Italy, but the ink must be changed right?and the driver?

Now i try to find a model of printer in Italy because the epson model is impossibile to find here

Nope drivers and ink are the same, I'm pretty sure anyway... You just need to use the right template to position and scale the card your printing...

Ok, i imagine that. Now I am searching a cheap printer maybe i find a canon for 80 euro but i must find a tray in Europe...Thanks for all you are the answer maybe I will print my badges!!!

Please make sure you buy printable Inkjet PVC card blanks. Otherwise the ink will not stick and will just wipe off...
I'll try to find some eBay links and post...

thanks, I don't find nothing for this moment I find in amazon one canon MG5350, but i can't find a tray...

I've looked into PVC card printers (not inkjet) and the cost was a turnoff. Ordered some teslin paper and butterfly pouches that should be in soon. Going to give it a try first, as my inkjet will not accommodate a PVC card tray and I have my doubts on the quality of print the PVC inkjet produces (based on some IDs I've received). Will report the results of my teslin test once I get everything in and get something made.

The teslin worked well in that you get a clean print, trimming is easy since everything is bonded together, and it's durable. It does look different from a PVC card though. Also, I could not get the teslin to bond to itself though, I don't know if it's not suossed to or I couldn't get enough heat through the 10 mil pouches.
