Captain Jack Harkness Earpiece [Torchwood]

Got this done just in time for Gallifrey One this past weekend. First time I've ever made a replica prop, so I was pretty happy with it. I want to redo the actual earpiece though, but the rest of it I'm happy with.

Re: Captain Jack Earpiece

That is fantastic!!! I've put together a Jack costume but still use the original bluetooth earpiece and would so love to upgrade to the silver earpiece! It's such a great looking prop and you have done an amazing job with yours! I've tried in the past to make this prop but with no luck......I'd certainly would appreciate any help/tips on how you achieved yours....or if you ever would consider making another one ;)

Great work!!! :)

Re: Captain Jack Earpiece

Nice Work ! I put together one of these for D*Con two years ago. Here's a pic of me wearing mine at last year's parade, along with Capatain John:

Re: Captain Jack Earpiece

I wouldn't be able to get in on a run, but I'd definitely love to see a write-up! Looks great. :)

I'd also love to see the write up and would definitily be interested in a run. Looks like you nailed it!

I remember making that for the programme years ago, it was a right pain getting the LED to the end whilst keeping it strong enough to be worn. It was an entertaining couple of minute of when we went to fit it to Mr Barrowman, he was joking around as he always was and pretending it was not complementing his jaw line! I've put a photo of my original up for you to compare.
Great job well done.

Thanks for posting the photo! :) This prop is certainly on my build 'wish' list...

Sooo...where's the write up? :cool

Sorry, haven't had time to work on a write up for it or to assemble the newly modified version. My younger brother was diagnosed with brain cancer, so we've been busy trying to help him and his family.

There's only 2 more weeks of teaching for Summer School though, so it'll be coming soon.

Hi Nick and thanks for the compliment! The led was definitely a pain because like you said, I wanted it bright enough to be seen, but still wanted to be able to easily turn it on and off. On the underside of the large tube, there's actually a little button to shut it on and off so I didn't have to have it lit up the entire time I was at the convention. Except every time Ian McNiece saw me, he made me light it up for him anywaya. :lol

Thanks for the photo of yours. The newer version I was working on is a bit smaller than my previous, and the new earhook is actually from a blue tooth instead of from a pair of sunglasses. So it looks closer to the real thing.

When I get a chance to finally assemble it, I'll post it up here. I still need to get around to doing my write up on the original and I had promised I would make one of these for a forum member.
