Captain EO returns

I love me some EO - I remember when this came out I was 16 stuck in Houston with no way to see it. I finally got it on VHS when I was 19 but had watched the "Making of" special over and over again as a teen who (like everyone else at the time) tried to master the dance moves Michael did in the film.

i FINALLY saw EO at Disneyland when I was 23, fresh off the bus moved to LA. The strangest thing was the week after I saw it - I met Michael Jackson while I was working at Golden Apple comic store.

Everytime I see EO now I get happy and sad at the same time. i have always been an MJ fan and I miss him. I'm glad the film will play at Disneyland for other kids to see just how much better we children of the 80's had it. You can keep Justin Beaver - we had the King of Pop.

I saw one of his videos today. As flaky as he was he pretty much IS the epitome of the 1980s up there with BTTF, New coke, arcades, big hair, and Michael Douglas in Wall Street.

No disrespect to MJ, but THIS is the epitome of the 80s:

lol You haven't shaved in 20 years? You needed a z28 in the picture and big hair like hers and it would be ultimate 80s. Man i wish i'd been older to enjoy the 80s more.

Why is this story coming out now? Hasn't the movie been back at Disneyland for about a year now?

I was kinda wondering that too. Disney probably decided to use it to get more people into the parks.

It was only going to be temporary and now they're making it a permanent attraction - The amount of people who line up daily to see it was just too many for Disney to ignore.

And Larry - i have something to match your 80's

Yep - the guy on the right is Rick Allen - drummer of Supergroup Def Leppard during the Hysteria tour - CHeck out my pooka shell necklace.

More like 35; I've hated shaving since my first whisker. I shave the old girl off about once a year, when I go to see my mom as a sign of respect because she hates it and it comes back full in about eight hours because I'm a mutant so it makes no difference to me.

And Jet: how awesome is that? You look so happy.

Captain EO, oh man, I was there opening weekend back when. Not sure how many know this but MJ used to be a regular at Disneyland, in disguise of course. A friend used to work there and told us he would enter through the employee entrance, get done up in disguise and just go about the park. He even told me more than once he was allowed to dress up in a Disney costume and be escorted for pictures just like the other costumed characters.

JB, if your in town and want to have drinks with a friend, he will talk for hours about MJ as they were very good friends. By talking to people who knew him personally, the legal issues are pretty much shot out. They really shine a new light on his tarnished reputation.

Captain EO I dont think has stopped playing at Disneyland since his death. Its both hilarious and sad at the same time. Not sad due to the death but the fact you get to see the making of as you wait for the next showing. To see how things were done compared to now, its sad how much personality and detail in realism is lost on film/tv anymore. Not realism as story but the sets and special fx.

Rob - I would totally be down for that.

One of the Lawyers who was working for California is also sometimes employed by my father in law and he was assigned to the MJ case during the first accusations by Jordan Chandler. This guy is old and before everything started he was already convinced MJ was guilty - about halfway through the investigation he was fired by Tom Smeddon (the man who was heading the investigation on behalf of Santa Barbara and Jordan) - his termination came after he reported that he believed that Jordan was put up to the whole thing by his out of work father. Jordan's father was a screenwriter (who many of my friends knew) and he wanted Michael to buy 5 of his scripts at 1 million dollars a piece - Michael said "no" and the next week the man filed the charges of sexual acts against a child on Michael on behalf of his son. When Jordan was asked to describe Michael's naked body - he got everything wrong, which is why Tom Smeddon pulled that as evidence. Alot of people think Michael paid the kid off- when actually it was his insurance company that did. The Dangerous tour was on halt because of the upcoming court date and they were losing money so they just went ahead and paid the money so Michael could go back on tour. Michael himself wanted to go to trial. And as for the second kid - well, anyone who thinks that kid was telling the truth needs their head examined. His mother had a history of suing people - JC PENNY, BLUE LINE TRANSIT, SCHOOL BOARD, STARBUCKS - she would claim all kinds of stuff just to get money and her kids played along with it.
Sorry to go into this - but I really feel MJ was crucified and it was such a shame - he gave so much.

In all honesty though, he was a strange cat. My ex would see him regularly at the 4040 Sports Club in Vegas and he was very, very nervous around her. He would only have young guys serve him food and drinks in a private room. He just didnt know how to act around women. BUT, he was a geek so that wouldnt be too odd if he wasnt MJ.

I agree he got railroaded. Anyhow I know how you feel Larry, i only shave when i have to. I'm glad they realized people still want to see this and share it with their kids and grand kids.

i honestly think he was gay, but never admitted it to himself. He was raised super religious and went door to door for the Jehova's Witness even after Thriller was a success. Also, his father really did a number on him making him hate himself. Growing up in the time Michael did where blacks and whites were still across a fence from one another - his brothers have gone on record saying they were called N****** and chased off many stages when they would tour the south - Michael was little and would ask them "Why do they hate us? They haven't even heard us sing." Jackie (as documented in his book) explained to him - they hate us because we're black. Michael would reply - "Well... if they heard us sing and saw us dance I bet they would change their minds." Tito used to always tell him that he had too much faith in people. I bet all of that had something to do with Michael bleaching his skin. He suffered from trying to please everybody. it's only fitting that THAT little boy would grow up and tear down the divide in music. I went to high school in Texas at one of the most red neck racist schools you can imagine, but after Motown 25 when Michael first moonwalked - there wasn't a kid in my school who didn't want to be Michael Jackson.

As far as I'm concerned - this is the night when Michael stole the crown from Elvis. check it out
