Captain America!

Saw it, loved it. I thought I would dislike Chris Evans but really found myself rooting for him. The only thing that took me out of the experience were the Hydra goons with their cheesy costumes (and salutes) and their LED laden Odin guns....

I actually had a fan letter published in a Seventies issue of Marvel's Captain America comic book, so I go way back with this. I was a bit disappointed. Sure it's a good looking movie. But it felt at times more like a highlight reel. Disconnected. Supporting soldier team cast? No time to even learn their names! Chris Evans was solid but didn't do enough to let me emotionally connect to Cap. That's probably the biggest let down for me. I thought he was a bit dull. And the villain was pretty standard too. Although the red skull prosthetic or CGI effect was great. Terrific set design and cool sci-fi machinery reminiscent of Jack Kirby drawings. The sub, the motorcycles, the big wing, all the vehicles and weaponry rocked. But I thought the romance was largely wasted and the supporting characters weren't memorable.

Tucci was enjoyable though. Wish he was in it longer.

BTW, my favorite super hero movies are X-Men 2, Spider-Man 2, Dark Knight, and the first Iron Man. So you can calibrate my taste accordingly. See it if you're hard core. There's plenty to like... just not love. Pass if you're only curious.

Just got back from seeing it and I loved it. The look, the feel...everything was very well done in my opinion. Loved the way CA used his shield and the progression of his uniform. 5 stars!! Again, stay after the credits (you won't be disappointed)!

Its the same when Hollywood attempts to turn a novel into a feature film. You are always going to lose something...its a bit of a tight rope walk. There aren't any Comic books turned film that have come out perfect to my knowledge.

Went to the midnight show, and I liked it. I wasn't blown away, but thought it decent. I too laughed at the Indy joke, and had a nerdgasm with the Human Torch.

Howard Stark made me laugh, and I really thought that Evans was excellent as Rogers.

I am one of those who thought it lame with the "no Nazi" thing, but I guess I'll get over it. Was also hoping for more of a gritty Ultimates feel.

Overall, I give it a 3 out of 5.

How do you think someone who never read the comics would like it? I'm familiar with the character from the cartoons (I think he was in one during the 80s), but never read any of the comics. I thought the trailer looked cool though.

all I can say is the first scene with the Fake Grenade sold me forever on Chris Evans, Captain American, and the real reason why i have a passion for superhero films.

I never thought I would be taken back by that, but that single scene just idk how to explain it. it made the movie for me, i bought everything after that. He became Captain America to me. crazy huh? great film.

I took my wife to see it as well as my 16 year old drug addict little brother and my wife LOVED IT! She has never read a marvel comic in her life, but she is now a Captain America fan. My little brother loved it and he is more interested in getting high and finding girls. I am just trying to say that it doesn't matter when it comes to this film whether or not a person is familiar with Cap or not it will make you a fan and a believer that Good Still Exists.

More importantly did anyone notice the THANK YOU'S IN THE CREDITS? They thanked Joe Simon, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee among others I felt that this was a really special nod to three of the greatest men to ever walk this planets surface.

I really expected a mediocre film at best going into this, and I was never really a Chris Evans fan.

I ended up absolutely loving this film! Evans did a truly fantastic job IMHO of capturing the true spirit of who CA is. Loved the entire cast, especially Weaving as the Red Skull.

I did however laugh at hearing the Wilhem scream.

I saw it with my friends who aren't really into comics and I had a hard time not try to explain some of the references. But we all LOVED it! I may even go as far as to say if you took out the comic hero stuff there would still be a good WW2 flick left.

Next film Winter Soldier storyline please and thank you lol

Saw it twice already. Once at the midnight showing and earlier today. It was a really enjoyable movie. I cannot wait for The Avengers next year.

It wasn't until I was talking to my wife that I got how funny it is that Chris Evans played Human Torch (Johnny Storm) and Human Torch (John Hammond) cameos in Chris Evans' Captain America.

Saw it twice as well. Midnight was the 3D showing, today was 2D and I have to agree that the 3D really added nothing to this steller movie. The experience was just as good and the ticket price was much lower...
Lets hope ticket sales keep growing for this - I am crossing my fingers that a successful run of this movie will give the director his shot at another Rocketeer film...
