Captain America US Army Officer

Hi guys,

I'm looking to do a ww2 US army officer costume the same as in Captain America TFA. I have the pins (including the SSR ones) and can easily get pants, shirt, hat, etc.
But I'm having trouble getting my hands on the 4 pocket tunic with belt for a reasonable price.
I'd like to get a reproduction but the only two people I can find selling it are What a Price Glory and ww2impressions. What a price glory are quite expensive and don't seem to stock my size anyway. And ww2impressions don't have any in stock at all.

Anyone know of any other places that do replicas? I'd rather not go original given price and condition of most of them.

Having gone through this myself for our local WWII Hangar Dances, I've researched the WWII U.S. Army uniform before I bought. I've also found that replicas can be just as expensive (or more so) as originals, but at least with the replicas, you'll have a better chance of finding the size you'll need. It seems most guys back then were on the small side, most likely due to the Depression Era and all.

Captain Rogers wears the "chocolate" officer's shirt, common for the U.S. Army Air Corp.

There are two websites that come to mind-

WWII Impressions U.S. Army Regulation Winter Officer's Service Uniform

What Price Glory - OFFICERS UNIFORMS

I recommend the visor cap be bought from the first website or do a search for WWII crusher caps. What Price Glory's cap didn't impress me all that much.

Also check out any Militaria shows that may be in your area. You just might find some of the items ( a cap here, a jacket there, etc.) needed to cobble together a great uniform at an afforable price. This was how I got my first uniform together.

I haven't been particularly impressed by WPG either, especially given their prices. The quality doesn't really make up for the cost.

both whatpriceglory and wwiiimpressions has containers coming in as far as I know.

you could modify a At the Front enlisted jacket?

EMC militaria has some: Officer's Dark OD Wool Service Coat

Any idea when wwiiimpressions has theirs coming in? Their website says late 2012, which is obviously wrong and the page they're on hasn't been updated since early 2013. Also do you recall the price at all?

The EMC one actually looks like the best one I've seen so far.

no idea, I keep up with wwiiimpressions through their email distro. I have preordered stuff through them, and even thought there is a lead time, they are some excellent products. I'd email Juan directly and see what his response is.

Personally, I wouldn't do this. The fabrics are way different for an enlisted man's uniforms from the officer's. Being, the enlisted man's uniform was made from worsted wool, while the officers were made from wool gaberdine, which is a finer fabric. The drab color would be different, too.

I'm thinking that I'll go with EMC given that they actually have my size and it looks like pretty decent quality.

I wouldn't even try modifying it, I have no sewing skills and getting a tailor to do it would probably end up costing more than getting the right jacket.
