this is my costume from Halloween 2011.. (also my first costume design & build)

I Googled as many “homemade” Captain America costumes I could find.. (before I found the RPF)

From those images & my impressions of.., I went with a old school/traditional (ish) version. I wanted to avoid spandex but keep a trim look.. (?)
I designed the costume to be as comfortable and practical as I could..

(enough of my jibber jabber.. on to the pictures!)

*since the project is done i will post what i got some shots of..

i have not gotten into sewing zippers.. (& velcro is my m.o.)

shoe/boot cover and designed the panst to go inside..
(kept them brom not bunching.. very well)

1st hood that got close (not the finished one..!)
(& sorry it was warm..)

& test fitting..

wait, it gets better..!

after lots of practice i got to be pretty happy with how the costume turned out.

thank you!

it was a fun build.. (but i still cant sew gloves! very well..)

& some more photos..

Awesome job, it looks great! I love the classic take on your Cap.

Any chance you have any closer pics of your final design mask? It looks excellent and I'd love to get a closer look at your construction details. I've always wanted to make myself one and your pics are inspiring me to finally get started!

thanks!

here are a couple closer shots of the mask..

(it's two layers of fabric, 1 cotton navy blue t shirt, 1 spandex shirt to help keep the cotton from getting stretched out.. 1 modified full face mask cut down & glued into the fabric to help create and hold face form. the back seam goes about half way up & is velcro.. it can be seen a couple photos up of the back of the costume)
