Can We Amend the "No eBay Rule"?

Gone but not forgotten.
The original spirit of that rule was to prevent bidding wars and harsh feelings over single items that weren't likely to be seen again, NOT multiple items that are available all the time or at least in large numbers.

The reason I ask, is because of the 20,000 Leagues newspaper listed in the paper props section. Modeleers listed it and promptly got jumped on for it. The auction clearly states that there's more than 10 available, and if I hadn't seen the post, I'd have never even known about it. Since they're doing a run of them, I think this was more of a service to the community than a potential problem.

Can we get some sort of amendment or provision added to the COC to accommodate auctions like this?

Thanks!

In the past most of the previous staff have pretty much ignored BIN multiple item auction links... Because as you said it doesn't create the extended 'bidding war' that is the basis of the rule...

I think multiple BIN auctions should be treated just like potential fraud Ebay links, evaluated on a one to one basis rather then a black and white steadfast rule...

I agree. I think buy it now sale listings with multiple quantities available fall outside of the spirit of the "no auctions" rule, especially since they aren't actually an auction strictly speaking.

We actually had planned to change this rule in the last revision of the MGL but at the last moment (the day we announced the revisions) an inconsistency was brought up and we were forced to leave the rule for the time being.

However, we are still working on a number of issues surrounding this and a few other sticky rules and will eventually put out another revision and I believe the no auctions rule will be among those revisions.
