Can the clamp be moved on an MR Luke ANH LE?

I was wondering if the clamp can be moved on a Luke ANH LE lightsaber to be oriented in the promo-shot position a' la the EE. Anyone know?

You know I never thought to try that. I've always hated how all my OT LE sabers point one way and this one points the opposite. I'll give it a gentle try this evening.

I was wondering the same thing regarding the MR Luke ESB saber. the copper(?) on my circuit board seems to be peeling/fading, and I wanted to see if I could pop open the clamp and replace it, but I was always afraid to try.

Well I got the lever out easilt, but there are two tiny screws that need to be removed in order to losen the clamo. I've been tryin and trying and can't get the little suckers to turn. My thumb hurts and my little eyeglass screwdriver is bent. Any suggestions?

More leverage. I have a set of eyeglass screw drivers and I find that they're not big enough to get a decent grip on. I have a set from radioshack that has a big fat rubber handle and an assortment of small driver heads of different type. Work really well. Allows you to put more grunt into it.

I'd be worried about stripping them though because if theyre in that tight and you strip them, there's pretty much no way in hell theyre coming out after that.

Yeah I backed off for fear of stripping them. They might be glued in too. Hard to tell.

Tap pin out of lever.

Remove lever and unscrew lever screw (make sense ?).

Remove sidebar.

Unscrew screws.

Yes, they are glued in. If you break them off, drill them out and re-thread for a slightly bigger screw.

You don't have to tap the pin out of the lever. You can just lift it up and unscrew it. That part was easy. :)

I wonder if taking a hair dryer to the screws would help loosen them.

When the MR Vader ANH came out, and then the bottom fell out of them and they were selling on ebay for like $99 people were buying them and parting them out for double-triple the selling price.

MR got REALLY PISSED and started using this super-super glue that won't come apart for anything. It's more luck to get them apart.

Guess if it got damaged I could always put a real Gralfex clamp on it. Not like I'm ever going to sell it.

But would a real clamp even fit? I mean, is the assembly under the clamp the same as on a real Graflex (with the tabs and slots), or is it just made to look the same on the outside?

Yes, it can be done- just don't remember what I did.

I remember putting masking tape around the clamp area b/c I left a small scratch in my efforts to remove it. No more scratches after putting tape around the clamp area.

Sorry, just don't remember any more but it can be done & having 2 next to each other made of that heavy metal is pretty cool & geeky.
