Camberwick Green and Trumpton

A lot of these FB pages are AI generated, either in their entirety or from a few short prompts by someone. If this is one of those, they just scrape the internet for images to go with the text, which is usually scraped from wikipedia etc. Many of them, including this one, mixes fan made content with original with no regard (or credit given) for which is which.

Hi Skiffy, thank you for the explanation. What a wonderful world we live in.

Mr Carraway, the Camberwick Green fishmonger.
fantastic as always kevin! I’ve just managed to get my second vehicle, farmer bell’s mechanical digger

for jobs that are big a mechanical digger is bigger and better and quicker..

she’s arrived! needs a good deal of work done to it before I even think of modifying it to it’s chigley appearance (bent back axle, broken clips, etc) but for £5 who am I to complain
At that price you won't feel too guilty at having to chop it about. I'll be interested in seeing how you get on. Good luck.

I suppose so yes! though I won’t be going about it for a long time, it only *just* fits on the shelf with the doc’s car as it is!
and to think that these are the smallest vehicles in the series.. ‍

also, there’s a very reasonably priced Binnie going on ebay in a few hours if anyone’s interested
(I’m not going for it since I’ve only just got this one)
(the kit is already partially built too!)

Last year I gave up the months-long search of ever finding Farmer Bell's tractor. However ArtBoy54, your Binnie comment inspired me look again. There is one Tudor Rose tractor in poor condition on eBay,
*VINTAGE* TUDOR ROSE FORDSON MAJOR TRACTOR PLASTIC 26 CMS LONG SPARES REPAIRS
but at just shy of £130, I think I'll keep looking.

I saw that one, a bit steep!
there is another tudor rose toy, the flatbed that the milk float got it’s wheels from, listed right now for quite a lot cheaper if you’re at all interested

Thanks for the info on the milk float wheels. If there was more than just the wheels then I would get it, it seems a shame to buy it just for them especially when someone went to all the trouble to recreate them in a 3D printable form :) . I did put a bid in for the beam engine but was outbid. It looks like there is also a newer variant, Airfix A05870 Beam Engine, which appears to have replaced the motor drive with a handle as far as I can see.

yes, they've re-released the beam engine and the trevithick engine a few times over the years. aside from the handle and the colour I'm pretty sure each release is identical
(personally I'd like to go for the original release though; less painting to do!)

anyway, now that I've got the digger I'll attempt to 3d model the custom cab section for anyone who would so like it
(I've not got a 3d printer myself but I might as well figure out the dimensions!)
how did you go about extending it Kevin? It appears that that the shovel mechanism hinges on the rear axle, which doesn't exactly work with the extended version. did you put in a new axle for the shovel to hinge on?

As I recall, I think I probably cut it with a hacksaw and then extended it by sticking plasticard pieces to it and using them to hold the two parts back together. Don't remember having to do anything to the pivot.

Looking at Chigley - The Fountain, there isn't any connection between the height of the front scoop and the steering wheel/lever that farmer Bell is holding. From what I can tell, the shovel mechanism doesn't rely on the lever mechanism connected to the rear axle and it would operate correctly without it as that mechanism is only there to allow the shovel to be lifted by the lever. If Kevin doesn't recall fitting a new axle, then possibly only part of the bar was left in place under the engine compartment so that a friction fit mechanism could press against the lever/bar to hold the shovel in a fixed position when re-positioned.

I was getting fed up of repeatedly trawling through all 39 episodes when looking for a specific vehicle to appear so I have created a rough list showing a time in MM:SS of each appearance on an episode by episode basis. I'm sure I've missed plenty of appearances and some vehicles (e.g. the crane at the Chigley wharf) but at least it's better than nothing. Where a vehicle appears on numerous occasions in short succession, I have only listed the first instance.

I was watching the latest 'Kitbashing and models in Thunderbirds' video from the excellent 'Matteline 1967' when what should I see but the same big truck model as used for Foreman's Truck, Clamp's Lorry and the Dustcart.

Added to the long list of future projects -> an army truck from the Thunderbirds episode 'The Impostors'. *sigh...*

Very interesting skiffy, no wonder the orange truck is so hard to come by, we're competing in the search for them with the Thunderbirds enthusiasts. I recognise the former eBay photo of the truck sat on its' cardboard box used in the video. :)

Incidentally I've got the flat bed truck used for Tripp's milk float turning up in a week or two so if anyone is interested I will post the dimensions of the wheels.

I don't think I've seen anything posted as to the original model used for the Cresswell biscuit factory lorry. It appears to have been based on on the following clockwork Tudor Rose truck. Printed on the underside is "THIS ITEM IS A TUDOR ROSE DESIGN" and "TUDOR ROSE PLASTIC PRODUCTS". I've obtained this truck from a certain well known auction site. If anyone wants any of the dimensions let me know. It looks like only the chassis, wheels and front section were used. Cab and rear enclosed van section were scratch built.
