C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute *FULL VIDEO*

Re: C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute

I can't even remember what Sam said because when he came in, George Lucas and he flanked me and the three of us did an taped interview together.
So where the interview lines prerecorded or provided by Tom Kane as well? Or did you have to actually provide 3PO's answers on the spot?

Sorry, I should clarify. George and Sam talked. I stood between them and looked confused/worried/frantic.

Here's the reason: Normally, consistently for almost 3 years, my voice amp performs perfectly. By the end of the show, when George and Sam came in, I had been locked in the suit for going on 4 hours. Moisture had built up on my mic and suddenly created this increasingly louder static sound that resembled a sandstorm. We quickly had to shut it off until we figured out what was happening so I wasn't able to do the voice for Sam and George. I couldn't believe it. Ah well, maybe I'll get the chance again someday.

The red carpet interview was done using my voice though, so maybe that'll make it on tv.

So initially it was planned for you to do the interview as well and spontaneously respond as 3PO? Wow. Do they warn you on what you can/cannot say as 3PO?

No, the only thing that was planned was that I show up and walk the red carpet with R2, and show up on stage and mime to the voice over. I was the only one who planned on using the voice and did so all night for the other celebrities, photographers, production crew and event attendees. But just at the crowning moment when I was going to do it for George and Sam, the mic started freaking out. Rats!

But no, they never told me not to say anything. They were so tickled by the performance I guess it didn't occur to them to tell me to be quiet.

Wow, what a lifetime experience that was. I remember going on your site back in the day about Stormtrooper and Boba Fett costuming, so it's only appropriate that you would get the chance. :thumbsup

Re: C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute

That's awesome Chris. You were suited up for 4 hours straight in that thing? That is some serious stamina, with the psycho tunnel vision those helmets have.

Re: C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute

For this, I'm happy to receive the enmity. :D

Don't forget to watch tonight: on AMC, 9 or 10pm, depending on where you are.

The wife and I watched CE3K and Gremlins on AMC while we decorated the house on Sunday, they must have run a commercial for this in every other break.
I love your suit, love the pictures, I'll be watching tonight for sure! She was awfully impressed when I showed her this thread, that you were in that suit for 4 hours and got to put on a show like that. Congrats.

Re: C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute

Holy Crapzilla! That is wicked cool. Congratulations Chris.

Re: C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute

WOW Chris that is fantastic! One gem deserves another...congrats on your big day.

Re: C-3PO at Samuel L. Jackson Tribute

This is awesome, Chris! Congrats!

What was Justin Timberlake's reaction?

Thanks ATAT. Jose, you're a poopypantz.
Justin was a total fan. "Yo C3, can I get a photo?!"

Also, the ladies strangely love Threepio. Staying in character only seemed to encourage them. I don't get it, he's not the hero type. Maybe it's the innocent look on his face

...or maybe it's because he's more machine than man? :confused
