Building the 4' Star Destroyer

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Thanks mate. With the information youve shared Im so keen. I just found a plastic supplier & now looking at a Base Plan To get the plastic laser cut? I saw you had one, did you update those new measurements on it? Im really bad at maths. Painting is my strength :cry

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Thanks Friends~! :)

Finally, I could get Aurora Sealab kit and will add engine bell part from the donor kit.

thanks Eric.

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Eric,

Any chance you could take some pictures of the Sealab parts with a ruler? It will help when trying to scratch build them.

Or if you make castings, I'd be interested in a set. :D

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Eric, I was just looking at your docking bay again. Did you attach it with a magnet? It looks like it in the attached image. If so, that's a great idea.

Yes. I used the magnet to attach the docking bay.

Thanks Eric.

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Hello everyone~

This thread was dying for last 3 years, I would like to restart...
Currently, I'm re-building my ANH ISD with more accurated proportion and the addtional IDed parts.
I've witnessed Ringa's ISD for last few months and I was really inspired by his great work...:thumbsup
If possible, I will post my new progress ASAP.
In pararell, I'm trying to Identify the remaining unIDed parts...
Of course, I know that these parts are still on mystery, however, I expect any fortune...:)

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

I saw the original recently and the taper of the edges that narrows toward the back is stunning. When the model is viewed from the side it's very obvious, but when viewed from the front it makes it look even cooler.

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

What are you proportion are you reworking? Still is impressive though

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

This is the progress pics for rebuilding the Devastator.

I re-measured and re-calculated the dimensions using the donor kits, and some good friends also adviced me...

In parallel, I rebuild the superstructure w/ the bridge~
I put the superstructure on the framework of Devastator and it is demonstrating more accurate size compared to my old thing.

thanks Eric.

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Wow Eric, that's great! You have a great dedication to making this correct. From my experience when I do something a second time it is much quicker and accurate, so I'm hoping this is going pretty fast for you.

Re: Making of ANH Star Destroyer

Thanks for your kind comment :)

Yes. I spent 2 years after building the 1st ISD to investigate the right proportion and the dimensions.

Especially, Ringa's 3rd ISD gave me an inspiration and the guidelines.
Although I spent 2 and half years to make the 1st ISD, I believe that the 2nd version will be built within this year~ as Scott said.

thanks Eric.

Scratchbuilds always impress me. Superb work.

Rebuilding the ANH Star Destroyer

The upper hull is attached on the skeleton by acrylic plate and the proportion is more accurate than prior built.
I will scribe the panel-line in the next step.

thanks Eric.
