Building a 1/18 SC like Snowspeeder

Hi guys,
I started this build on March, but with the X-Wing commissions it's been difficult to finish it.
I based my build on the grey ILM snowspeeder and painstakingly tried to match every angle of this bird. Uffff, quite a challenge I must say.

I did some modifications on the relation of size between the pilot and the Speeder. As I drew blueprints of the Snowspeeder I realized that the ILM models cannot support a human being with legs, the ship is to small in size.
So I re-calibrated the size relations resulting on a slightly bigger 1/18th scale speeder, thus allowing a complete pilot in a fully detailed cockpit to fit in the ship and I really think it does not look weird as the FM.
Here are some pics of my build. later this week I'll posts pics of this prototype build almost ready.
I hope you like it guys:

I actually like the quirky fact the filming mini wont hold a full figure, its part of its charm IMO.
Your model is lovely, but no longer studio scale really!

eh up buddy that looks mint mym8,i`ve always loved that vehicle.i`m thinkin of buildin 1 myself after my current build....top job peza

The stuff is getting better and better .......guys are making some
excellent builds great job it looks great so far!:thumbsup

Wow!, I want one, SS or not. Feet in or no feet, looks awesome.
Proportions look great to my eye. If it's anything like your X-Wings, it will be a stunner:).

Thanks guys!

Ray22, how are you mate? The Y Wing project was postponed because Steve was going to release yet another Y-Wing and even though I finished the study of kits and drawing the set of blueprints we decided not to compete with other fellow modelists doing the same, after all, counting all of us Studio Scale kit producers are so few that we should try to help each other.
So we will release it some other time, no idea when though.

Thanks Stu! It was not as hard as I thought to adapt the ship for complete pilots! I don't think it would be noticeable if I didn't tell.
I also found very similar donor kit parts for the 1/18th scale, look at the radiator plate:

And a pic of the pilot on the prototype cockpit, I'll change the panels later for ones more accurate to the full scale prop:

The repulsor unit:

The aluminium guns I still have to copy them in resin and sand them beneath and the paste the details plus 3 of the 12 radiator fins:

More pics coming soon:)

Bests:

I like your stance on your build. Build it as if it really did exist and could support two crew. Its coming along great so far.

That is, without any doubt, the BEST looking pilot I've seen thus far. Very accurate. You even nailed the "slump"... :)

While my friend Rod worked on the snowspeeder prototype, I was working on the resin parts in order to finish the model, and when we had some spare time, we’d take pictures, such as these, of course these are photoshoped.
