Budget Wolf Build

Lord-all-mighty that is some impressive armor.......skills you have my young padawan.....lol...yoda

My god that is some nice armor I have to be truthful I did not expect much when I saw budget suit built but wow you are making some good stuff keep it up man.

Excellent build on those armor parts. Yes, they are time consuming to make, but you are going to end up with an awesome end product. Keep going ! :p

Only a tiny update today. Got 2 of the backpack plates glued together. Didn't realise I had no glue sticks left so couldn't get the top one glued or attach it to the main body. Should get this done tomorrow and can start drawing out the 2 sides. Think they should be fairly straight forward. Isn't going to look too much like the real thing shape wise but is all I can manage with the material.

Great way youve got there making those things.

Im pretty psyched in seeing the result.

Good luck on it,

Cya!

Got the backpack all but done today. Not as good as I'd hoped but the Foamex restricts the amount of curved faces you can put on anything. First step was getting the third plate glued in and then glueing the 3 to the base shape.
1000D235.jpg

Next I made up templates for the 2 sides. These are nowhere near accurate as the ashape is fundamentally different but I did what I could.
1000D237.jpg

Then cut the various pieces out and then started sticking them to the sides. Some of the dremelling is a little rough looking but I think it will be lost when I get the paint onto it. Hopefully.

Still need to add a base as you can see but am leaving this in case I want to build anything into the void first.

Glue should be set in the morning and it's onto the gauntlets. o_O

Got the gauntlets started this week. One done(ish) and the other should be done the coming week or so. Started off with a former made from a cardboard tube. Cut a template and heated it to make the basic shape.

1000D274.jpg

Added an extra piece to close the top and off and give me a flat base to build off.
1000D276.jpg

I started to build up a top piece with multiple layers of Foamex but soon decided it looked cack and rippped them all off again to leave just a flat base.
1000D277.jpg

I knocked out some blades by cutting a template and sticking two layers together with industrial double sided tape. I've left the bladed extra long at the moment. Going to speak to a guy in work tomorrow and see if he can think of a slimline, easy method of making them extend. If it's going to be something bulky I'll just leave them fixed in place.

1000D279.jpg

Made a new top section and heated it to mould it around the arm piece. Did some weathering with the dremel and this is what I've got. Will fill the ends in with Foamies when I decide on the extending blades thing.

Got the first gauntlet glued together today. Passed on the idea of getting a mechanism top extend the blades. Think it would end up more hassle than it's worth when you're out with a beer in hand. Stabbed more than one person last year with fixed ones so shooting ones would only lead to trouble.

Anyway, glued the blades and a spacing block onto the main arm section.

Next I stuck the top folded piece on and moulded a piece of foamies into the gap to fill the end.
1000D296.jpg

Did the same at the front with another piece of Foamex. Used No More Nails to grout the edges and cover up any joins. Will sand these all down when it sets.

Going to make another simple flat section with some detailing to run along the top of the whole thing. Looks too plain and will also cover the fact that the lines running up either side and across the top aren't symmetrical so the line across the top is skewed.

awesome job!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyone knows where i can get some of that foam ??? looks very easy to work with ... gauntlets look great!!!!!!!

Cheers all, I found much better reference pics after I'd posted the gauntlet pics so I'm actually going to take the whole top off it again and redo it. Hopefully won't completely wreck it. The cement should come off with the Dremel and the heat gun should melt the glue so in theory I may even be able to salvage the top piece and re-use it. Hope so as Dremeling all the texture again won't be fun...and I'm getting tired of hoovering every damn day!

Brilliant. Good to see someone getting stuck in about it so to speak. I love to see folk using anything to hand and solving problems as they go along. Sometimes too much time is wasted thinking about how to make something rather than just getting on and doing it. I'm sure this project is going to look ace when finished as you have the determination to succeed.
Keep it up and keep posting process pics as it inspires others.
Cheers.

So I got the gauntlet chopped up and redone tonight. Looks much better and only a few things left to do to finish it off. I got the top piece off without doing any real damage and sliced it in half.
1000D297.jpg

Next was to fix the two halves to the sides.
1000D298.jpg

I added side pieces and heated the whole thing to mould them round the curved arm.
1000D300.jpg

I had to chop a lot of the blade structure off to get the sloped top piece on. Sealed the edges as best I could using No More Nails which will need sanded when set. Both ends have fairly obvious open sections which I'll have to fill somehow.

So got the gauntlet all but finished. Added a few extra pieces on the top witha fuse and a bolt for a bit of detail. Used foamies to cover the ends over and sealed the joins with No More Nails. It will need sanded down in the morning but then that's it done.

I'll post better pictures of it when I get the final sanding done in the morning. Adios!
