Budget McFly costume?

Hey guys,

I have been invited to a 80s themed party, and with my love of 80s films I thought I would go as Marty McFly from Back to the Future. The catch? I only have half a month to come up with a reasonable (but not deadly accurate) costume and next to no money to put into it.

So, can anyone help me source some parts and confirm my thoughts? Again, not going for accuracy, this will probably get ruined by the end of the night.

Parts:

Denim Jeans
Maroon Under Shirt
Black and White stripe/checked button shirt
Denim Jacket
Orange Jacket (Any ideas where to get a look alike?)
Black 80s style Wrist Watch
Sneakers
80s Styled Haircut

Have I missed anything?

Cheers Guys.

I'd rethink McFly. This time of year the jacket and vest will likely kill you.

For most of it, you should be able to find what you need at Goodwill.

You'll probably have trouble finding the denim jacket or the vest locally, but Amazon.com will likely have something passable on the cheap

Also, with the denim jacket, you might consider a lighter-weight denim button up shirt. It would sill look OK, but would be a lot cooler.

For the shoes, the correct ones have been out of production for a couple decades, so I'd just go with the cheapest pair of white sneakers with red detailing you can find.

Yeah, you definitely want to make sure you're not going to suffer heat stroke with a full McFly outfit in hot weather.

I went to a costume party about a week ago in France, it was in the mid 30's, 28 degrees in the shade. I was soon down to just the maroon tee and shirt over the top.

My outfit isn't 100% screen accurate, but I got a lot of compliments on it. One instance where being 5' 7'' comes in handy. I'll post some pics when I'm back from work.

Oh, and don't forget some mirrored aviators and braces, they really help sell the outfit.

I didn't get any pics of myself, and people who have pics of me haven't gotten round to putting their snaps on facebook yet. I'll post once they show up.

So here's some pics of my "closest to Bruins as I could get" Nikes.

I found them in a Marathon in Hong Kong a couple of years ago.

Other than the red sole I'd say they're pretty close, and they cost less than £40!
