At the end of the original BTTF, Doc pulls up in the DeLorean after visiting the future, and tells Marty (and Jennifer) they have to hurry, to stop Marty's kid (30 years in the future) from getting involved in a robbery and going to jail, starting a cascading disaster for the McFly family.
For Marty, this was the morning after he got back from his trip to 1955. I'm sure he was exhausted, to say the least.
WHY was Doc in such a hurry to get to 2015? Why did they have to leave IMMEDIATELY? I mean, he had a time machine. Why not chill for a week or two (or month or two, or year or two!) in 1985, before taking Marty to 2015 to help his (yet unborn) young son? :confused
In BTTF 2, Doc even said he had taken time to get his body rejuvenated, have some organs upgraded, the DeLorean hover converted, Mr. Fusion installed, etc.
[I know that in 1985 there was no "planned" sequel to BTTF, and the details about Marty/Jennifer kids getting messed up in the future didn't technically exist yet. It was a way to end the film with a little bit of "kick" and possibly set it up for a sequel.]
