BTTF Hoverboards by HUVr Tech

Has it really happened? Or has it not happened at all. A Hoax?

Hello all!

I am going to let the links do most of the speakiing. But How I found out is that over Breakfast my mother told me about the video that you are going to see below.

And when I got home from work I finally got around to watch that video.

I then did some digging and I found a couple of links down below.

Link 1: (The Firm that is supposed to be developing the Hover Board)

HUVr - The Future has arrived.

Link 2: (A skeptical link declaring it as a Hoax.)

Viral Video: HUVr hoverboard hoax with Christopher Lloyd, Tony Hawk | NJ.com

Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Discuss away!

All the Best!
-Alex.

There are a couple threads here already on it. It's a hoax.

Re: BTTF real Hoverboard video? HURv

I wondered what exactly was the point of this viral video, and all of that plus the celebrity cameos was just for FB comments and a replica hoverboard giveaway? Seems kind of a waste of marketing effort.

Gives Funny or Die attention. The internet is about attention. Attention = more clicks, more clicks = more money.

Re: BTTF real Hoverboard video? HURv

and more people buying explosives to sneak into the Funny or Die offices.... or at least wanting to. not funny, so they should have the other thing. grrrr

This is bull****. It's almost 2015 and we don't have anything from BTTF 2. Except maye that stupid hat Marty Jr wore.:lol

As you said: it's almost 2015. I'm sure we will be overwhelmed by BTTF products next year. ;)

It's sad that people were actually fooled by this. Aside from the the research people have done, it's really obvious that they are hanging from wires, not standing on their own legs on the board. Plus the fact that none of the MIT grads actually have names.

What I'm really curious about is the December 2014 "destination time" mentioned on the Huvr website. I'm assuming that this is part of a viral marketing campaign. But for what? The fact that nothing that could infringe on the copyright of the BTTF franchise (No music, no mattel logo, it's called Huvr, not hover, etc.) makes me think it's not for BTTF itself. I'm really curious to see what it's all about.

Facebook is posting it from page to page, reposts all day, but only I posted that it was fake :lol but knowing my post will be overlooked because of the dozens of reposts of the HUVr vid, I will be wrong to the people who believe that it is real (even though I posted the direct link) :lol oh well!

I would hope that people aren't THAT upset!

Considering almost everyone has seen videos of 1) a magnet levitating above a superconductor cooled by liquid nitrogen, 2) the 1966 Disney Jetpack and 3) a PWC-powered FlyBoard, I was very surprised that the HUVr fooled so many people. It's amazing what "wishing" can do to belief.

Mine works as well as a "real" HUVr. Mine was built for a friend attending a BTTF party, who wanted thereafter to attach trucks and wheels and skate it.
hover2.jpgI know it misses the mark in many ways but I did too little research and knocked it out in a day.

I thought it was obvious that it was fake. I mean, one if the boards they show being used is the BTTF 2 Hoverboard. If this video was legit and that board was being used, then it would have been Mattel's name on the video, not some unknown company.
