BTTF bottles.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

It would take someone w/ deep pockets to get the ball rolling, but what about finding someplace that does custom blow molding in small runs, (say 250 - 500) to mass produce these as real, working sport bottles? (minus the decals of course)

The initial run could be sold with a set of all the various brand decals, to make more than the original investment back, then whatever was left could be sold to a liquidator like Big Lots or something w/o the decals.

Thoughts?

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Oddly enough, there's a project over at PropSummit involving a custom-made glass bottle...

So custom bottle projects can be done :)

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Anything could be done but I won't be getting that ambitious with these.

I like the prop but don't see myself making it my life's work or anything.:lol

Like you said, deep pockets. The tooling alone would be thousands.

Back to wood bottles.

I just got my Diet Pepsi perfect bottle off Ebay. And the paint and the vinyl decals are very nice. But as you can see the size it not “perfect”.

So maybe mine is accurate?

It may well be!

So, I guess I should start to get an idea of how many people would like to see some wood blanks!

Speak up if you'd be interested.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Rylo,
Are you considering making a vacuformed bottle? I have the Diet and Slice. Also, if you're going to make the wood ones, how about making the flip top "straw" thingy....I'd be interested in that!

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

I have a vacuformer and a bunch of clear plastic. I just need a good plug to form over.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

What would be the point of the flip top on a wooden bottle?

I'm only interested in doing wooden blanks. Nothing more.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

I can do pepsi's and have had the plan to do them for years now. Just need a good machining profile to kick things off...

Anyone?

The point of these would be to amke these look even more screen accurate. I believe that some of the bottles were wood with the flip top straw. It would be a cool extra and I have yet to see anyone do this.

Brad

Gary- I too would be in for a vacuformed PP. Also did you get my e-mail about 2 weeks ago?

Brad

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Got it. I'll e-mail you about that in a few minutes.

Now.... about the bottles. I'm ready with a design plan to do Pepsi Perfect Bottles. All I need are measurements to generate a lathing plan. I could just wing it and call it good, but I'd rather do it RIGHT the first time.

Eventually the PP design could also be used for solid or rotocast DP and Slice bottles as well. However, if Rylo wants to do solid blanks for those he's more than welcome to do do, I have no desire to interfere with those plans.

Again, all I need are an accurate set of dimensions.

If you are interested in helping out, please feel free to PM or e-mail.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

DUDE...

You think you could start your own thread? I'm rather trying to get my own thing going here?! First Coinop claims he can't help with measurments because he wants to keep his bottle "special" only to follow it up 24 hours later with an interest thread in the junkyard and now you start an interest thread on top of my own research/interest thread.

C'mon. Do your own thing, man. Do all the bottles you want but don't ride my thread.

Got it. I'll e-mail you about that in a few minutes.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Huh? You think this is a thread hijack?

:lol

If anything I was trying to add a little more to this project to HELP you. Sounded to me like you only wanted to do SOLID bottles either in wood, aluminum... insert material here.

I'm here hoping to add to possibility of a clear plastic bottle - which would benefit from a pooling of resources to come up with a clear set of dimensions which would allow this board to have a complete set of bottles made to the same set of dimensions.

Please don't think you were the first person to come up with an idea for bottles.

I know it may run counter to what you see nearly everyday here at the RPF, but I'm actually trying to HELP you. I thought I made that clear in the posting above.

Obviously I was not and for that I apologize.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Um, yes. Yes, I do! You're not helping me by asking people to send YOU your own measurements. :confused
You came on on page 9 of a thread I've been nurturing for a week proposing your own project.

Please, I never claimed ownership of the idea...I do; however, claim this thread.

I find it interesting how industrious people get on the heels of others. It's funny how often we hear, "I've been thinkin' about this forever" right after someone else puts a project in motion.

I'm sure it's simply coincidental, here.

Do as you please on your bottles. No problem there; Just start your own thread, that's all I ask. Hell, I'll even yield to a better product if someone beats me to it. Again, I have no problem at all with similar products being offered. I think the market can always decide what the better deal is. I just take issue when it's done on my thread.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

I'm gonna address this as calmly as possible WITHOUT trying to further inflame a situation that I truly believe it caused by a simple misunderstanding.

I've been watching this thread since you started. To date I see no real progress and your efforts appear to have stalled out due to a lack of measurements.

In addition to the dimension problem, you are also looking to do only solid bottles. Fine, but by leaving out the clear ones you are doing you project a disservice (in my opinion at least).

Yes, I HAVE been working on this project (ableit in a back-burner capacity) for the last three years or so. Jedifyfe can confirm this. He too had a bottle project that stalled out and we started talks about trying to do them together. We too hit the wall of dimensions. There are already replicas out there that "claim" to be from a film provenance. The end replicas all seem to be lacking in some regard. We didn't want to be another one of "those" replicas.

My posts here were not made to hijack what you are planning. Instead I sought to pool the resources I and Brad came up with along with yours in an effort to kickstart things here back to a progressive state.

However, after thinking more about this and reading your posts above - it truly sounds like you want the Rylo bottle project to STAY the Rylo bottle project.

I am more than happy to step out of this thread and let you proceed as you see fit. Any further progress I make will be based in a new thread.

My apologies.

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Rylo, come on Yourself! I have done nothing more here in this thread then trying to help You.
I even PM'd You and was willing to send You my blueprint that I made of my screen used wood bottle, since You are doing one in wood.....but no reply from You.
I made my master for over 2 years ago, so this was not something I came up with last week.

And I can tell You that Your attitude is not very convincing if You want measurements to make an accurate bottle, not for me anyway. :thumbsdown

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

I can attest that Gary and I had started a project just like this 3-4 years ago. I even posted the vector graphic that Gary made 3 years ago in this thread.

I think that it may seem sometimes that a thread gets started and then others perk up and stand on the shoulders of geniuses (so to speak). This is OBVIOUSLY a prop that many people have talked about or at least thought about. I know Gary and I can say, with out a doubt, that he is the last person to hijack a thread. So there is a definite misunderstanding here.

Rylo, I am sure your bottles will come out great. And I am sure there is room for others to make the bottles the way they want to.

So moving forward, LET'S GET THOSE DIMENSIONS!!!!

Brad

Re: BTTF Pepsi Perfect bottles.

Dude, you pulled a low rent move. Simple as that. You lectured me (on this thread) about keeping your demensions private due to the cost you spent on a screen used item...you even went as far as to say you were keeping it "speacial" by not sharing the dimensions...then you offer the same item for sale 1 day later?!

It's all good. You had your own plan, I get it. But, don't try and play it off. You derailed this thread to suit your own purposes. "Own it!"

In fact, you still can't help yourself...you simply will not stop posting to this thread.
You've got nothing to contribute yet keep chiming in.

I give up. You want to sell the board those crappy resin pulls you're offering that bad...have at it.

Again, this was never about who thought up what first. I opened my own thread to conduct research and it was hijacked. You clearly had your own agenda...that was to sell your own crap.

I've got no real issue with Gary.

I've abandoned this thread and the project.

Good luck!
