BSG - Paper Props

Hello everyone. well this thread has gone from a font ID thread to a more general BSG Paper prop thread. I know we already have a paper prop thread, but with the propworx auctions, we now have a lot of quality pictures of BSG paper props specifically.

My main background is DTP work (aside from dabbling in 3d CGI and video editing work as a hobby) so I am working towards reproducing the paper props for those of us who can't afford the bizarre auction prices.

Once I've got a few more done, I'll be starting to offer these in the JY.

can anyone identify the font on the ballot slip please.

the instructions are very clearly something like arial, but I'm having trouble identifying the font used for the main names and is also used top left where it says

trans fleet ballot elec.2-p-c

anyone got any suggestions?

Re: font ID needed

Looks like Handel Gothic EF manipulated a bit - bold face on top stretched out and regular face for the names squished to look more condensed. Does that make sense? :lol

Re: font ID needed

yup/ that looks good and I've got that font too. that's partly the trouble, trawling through 1500 fonts for one is always a bit of an eye burner.

Re: font ID needed

first pass at the ballot paper.

what do people think?

I aim on completing a lot more galactica paper props and making them available in the junkyard later.

Re: font ID needed

sheet informing Roslin she is to be appointed president of the colonies.

Re: font ID needed

it's whatever the american equivalent of A4 is. 8.5 x 11??? so 11 deep but it isn't the full width. I haven't got the actual auction text but by my reckoning and extrapolating off the auction image I make it about 6.5" wide.

I'm going to be doing the sheets from the auction. all the paperwork I can and then if there is interest, offer it on the junkyard. I'm sure there will be people who would like some paper props to go in these folders they are buying.

to be fair I have deviated ever so slightly from the swearing in hero prop. bizarrely considering this was made in the miniseries. the actual crest on the auction item is battlestar Pegasus. very strange. so I've changed it to Office of the President. as that is much more in keeping with the nature of the signal colonial heavy 798 recieved.

the only thing I can think is that as it was the miniseries. of a battlestar program, it was a slight nod from the production bods to the Pegasus. of course the mini then got picked up as a series and the pegasus featured later.

Re: font ID needed

well I was like you MM. I thought I'd just grab the auction pictures and print them, but they aren't high enough. so I'm recreating them in vector so its nice and sharp.

the good thing is that the sheets use common elements, so once I've got a few done, the rest should start going together quite quickly.

I'm also a writer so I aim to produce them proper blurb to go on some sheets, so when people get a pack, it isn't just going to be random text.

Re: font ID needed

thanks for the size lonepigeon. I went back and measured mine and it scaled to 4" x 8" so I was pretty close to start with.

I'm cooking on gas tonight. another one done beyond a few tweaks.

can someone name this font?

Re: font ID needed

Colonial Heavy 798 Manifest - from the miniseries.

just a rough mock up. on a direct overlay the layout is a match

Re: font ID needed

is it possible to somehow change the title to this thread? can a Mod do this at all? to something like 'BSG paper props'
