Bring Christopher Eccleston back to Doctor Who

Well that's the end of that one then:
Christopher Eccleston rules out 'Who' return - Doctor Who News - TV - Digital Spy

Ah well, it was always a pipe dream, not really a reality. I do feel he's a little ungrateful for the role; to be fair, many of us under 20's (I dunno, maybe older, maybe younger) only know him, or predominantly know him for the Doctor.

Perhaps though, this admission will increase the fervancy of some peoples attempts to get him back XD

(Although, it might take the entire episodes budget to get him back :lol)

He seemed a bit prickly about it even on the DVD set interviews. When asked why he decided to leave his "stock" answer seemed to be "I did several years' worth of episodes if you look at how the old show operated." Which is...sorta true. My hunch is that (A) it was a new production so they were still shaking out a lot of the kinks, and (B) he's not much for the TV production schedule. Probably prefers film and/or stage.

I my opinion I think that the reason Eccelston quit is that he didn't mesh with the show's working environment.

Eccelson has always stuck me as a very professional actor. He just wants to come in and do his job without any hassle.

But the impression I have gotten from the behind the scenes stuff in the RTD era was that it was a very relaxed working environment with everyone being close friends with eachother. This no doubt leads to atleast some wasted time joking around and hanging out. Considering that Eccelston's professionalism distances himself from the otherwise close cast and crew, he was most likely not able to enjoy this relaxed attitude and felt that the crew were unprofessional and wasting his time.

I read once in an interview with John Barrowman that seems to confirm this. He said that while him and Tennant are good friends that spend alot of time together, Eccelston always kind of kept to himself and never wanted to hang out.

Understandable, then. Different style, different connection. If it's not a good fit, then best if both parties just amicably go their own ways.

I think he was great as the Doctor - better than even Matt Smith - who I like, but I'm not much on the Doctor getting younger and younger - By the time he reaches his final episodes he'll be a toddler (which i admit, I'll watch). But Eccelson seemed like a bad ass - much more than flippy Tennent (the girl's Doctor).

Eccleston was so believable. I could really imagine the whole thing! I guess you have to respect him for being straight forward; although anyone who wouldn't want to be The Doctor forever is a complete moron! Am I wrong?

^ Well, acting is like any other job or career--if you do it long enough, eventually it gets old. With actors, that means playing the same character year after year after year. On one of his appearances on The Graham Norton Show David Tennant said this was one of the reasons he left the show; he really enjoyed playing The Doctor, and he didn't want the day to come when he would wake up and think, "Oh God, not the Daleks again..."

Clearly, with Eccleston, this was not the case after only one season/series; depending on which story you believe, he left either because he didn't want to become sterotyped, or because he didn't like the environment (i.e., company politics) in which the show was produced.
