Boba Fett ROTJ EE-3 blaster questions.

If this has already been covered else where fell free to direct me there, and delete this, but I haven't been able to find the answeres I seek yet.

Ok, so I have dreamed of owning a replica Boba Fett ROTJ blast since I was a kid. It has always been one of my top 10 props I most wanted to own, but probably would never be albe to afford. Well, do to some really great folks of at the Dinted Helmet, I have accumulated most of what I need to make this dream prop come true. (unfortunately, since I'm on Dial up, their site is very, very slow, and since, this is my home for all thing props, and prop related, I'm posting my questions here.)

1. On the real prop, were does the face of the long part of the D-bracket set in relation to the face of the stock? (i.e. flush, or sets in a bit, or sticks out a bit. etc.) I replaced the resin one my kit came with, with an aluminum one, that looks really cool, but it sets, in a tiny bit, but I could build it up, to be even with the face of the stock, if I had too. (I kind of like it setting in a little, but I want to get it as screen accurate as possible.. )

2. What size, and type, of screws are the two screws in the stock, and is there a template for there placement? (On, my Mini MR fett, they are Philips Heads, but I would like to know what's screen accurate.)

3. Are the templates for the location of the model parts?

4. What about the paint scheme? I've seen, and heard a lot of different approaches to the paint scheme. From very dark, to very light, to everything between. I even saw the prop myself, on exhibit a few years ago, but as I never thought I would own one, I didn't look close enough at the paint job, or take any good pics of it. :( (though I remember it looked light to me.) A lot of the versions look really good, but I would like to get it as Screen accurate as I can. I know, some think it was very dark, but most of what we see of it on screen was in bright sun light, in witch case it could look darker on screen. (because they would have had to "stop down" and it that can make darks, darker, just to make other stuff not wash out.)

So, HELP, if you can, any info, opinions, pics, etc, are welcome.

Thanks
Jason

I´m sure the experts will chime in but here´s a first reply...

The stock bracket should be pretty much flush with the face of the wooden stock and the screws in the rear end of the stock should be Philips oval head screws IIRC.

I don´t know of any templates for placing the detailing, but you should be able to eyeball the placements from all the great reference pics available on the net (just google or look at flickr).

The paintjob is actually VERY complex with a lot of greys, brown/ rust etc.
It appears lighter than it is. The base color of the MR EE-3 nailed it pretty good IMHO, but the rest of the paintjob was :sick

Again...if you look at the available reference pics, you should be able to get a close reproduction of the correct paintjob.

I forgot who it was, but someone on here painted the MR gun to show the factories how to paint it. He said he might work up a tutorial for painting it. So my MR is waiting for a good paint guide.

these might clear up a question or 2

Can we see pics of you kit?

Well, there isn't much to show yet. I got an aluminum D-bracket, a few months ago, over at TDH, and then I just picked up a very rough kit over at TDH. ( a member over there is doing a run, and he let me get one of the castings that came out a little off, for pretty cheep.) Then I order a scope off ebay, but it hasn't come yet. (it's been over a week since they said the shipped it, and I'm getting a little antsy. :( ) And, another member is casting up the ROTJ barrel, and greablies, but it will probably be at least a week, or two, before I get them. (they're coming from England. )

So, it's an eclectic kit, and a lot of work, but in the end, it will have a metal D-bracket, real scope, and if I can pull it off, it should "open". (the barrel section hing for ward, like on a real webly. )

In the mean time, I've been working on cleaning up the stock, and I had to modify it a bit to fight the metal D-bracket. And, I'm working on drilling all the holes, and that kind of stuff, so when I get the other parts, I'll have this much done.

I did do a little search, and found a lot of really good pics of the real prop. Including a great thread over at TDH, with really great pics from the exhibit. And I think I might have a chance of getting the paint job done. (or at least something I can live with, though it might take me a few tries, but that's usually the case for me. )

"oval head Philips head screws" for the stock? What size, and were in the heck do you get "oval Philips head screws" ?
