Re: Blade Runner 2049 - Officer K Pistol - 3D Printed Kit with LEDs - RUN 1 FULL

Sending out 4 more kits tomorrow. Will spend most of the long weekend making Deckard blasters while the other 2 printers keep making K's pistol

I'm up to chimpinfin on the list. Will update the list soon.

Still have 1 of the "flawed" pistols left

That's it for now, back to the sweat shop!

Blaster and unicorn safely landed this morning in the UK. Lovely work.

The blaster's really clean with some lovely crisp detail. Can't wait to start cracking on this project!

Many thanks!

Exciting! Blaster arrived safely through the door this morning (UK). As DVD Connoisseur says the blaster is beautifully crisp and cleanly modelled. There's some easily stripped-away support structure that 'hides' the detail at first glance, but once that's been picked off the underlying detail is exceptional. As with any 3D print there'll be some filling and sanding to achieve a really good finish - I'm planning on using the epoxy resin technique on some of the simpler shapes to speed things up a bit. But a few hours of effort should produce a fantastic end result I hope. The carbon fibre wrap that is supplied with the gun is really sizeable too so plenty of opportunities for getting it right (although the actual prop carbon fibre affect seems to be a 'basketweave' pattern rather then the 'herringbone' that all available vinyl wrap seems to come in).

The blaster comes beautifully packed in a big zip-lock bag and bubblewrap in a sturdy box, and I had no issues with customs or anything.

One thing that surprised me slightly was the size of the blaster - it's big! Here it is with my Elfin Knights water gun conversion for comparison. You can see from this how beautifully the 2049 blaster fits together even without any cleaning up or adjustment.

I'm really looking forward to starting on this project, and thanks to rgriesbeck for a beautiful model and exceptional customer service!

All "flawed" kits are gone

Re: Blade Runner 2049 - Officer K Pistol - 3D Printed Kit with LEDs - RUN 1 FULL

Should have the next 6 kits, including some double packs with Deckard guns, shipped out by mid week

Brilliant, thanks. Two questions :)

Has my kit shipped yet?

What dimensions did you go by? I'm looking at holsters and most are using the dimensions of the thingeverse model to build from.

Re: Blade Runner 2049 - Officer K Pistol - 3D Printed Kit with LEDs - RUN 1 FULL

I received my kit!

This is my first detailed 3D print to finish. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to finish the nooks and crannies? I’m looking at the front and I’m kind of stumped how to work in such a small space.

Yup, you should have gotten an email. We went with scaled pics from the movie to determine size

I'm no expert, but I know you can use small files, sandpaper, chisels, even nail files to get in small spaces...

Needle files, I picked up a set at Home Depot from Husky, helps a ton. (7-piece precision needle file set)

Aha thanks. I just found the email in my junk mailbox (because obviously where else would it be) :) Looking forward to it arriving.

Just to add to the previous recommendations I always keep a supply of emory boards around (as you can cut them with scissors into particular shapes as required) and also (for very tiny areas) sanding needles are a good investment.

I received mine! 2 mins of tidy up and it goes together right away. Very happy with it :)

Absolutely fantastic work. Really appreciate everything that went into this.

Just saw this, might be old news for some, but it's good info on finishing 3D-printed stuff. Just be careful with the xtc-3d, it removes detail. It would work good on the grip, not on the barrel
