Black Widow Gun Belt, Iron Man 2

I did the Piping Grey. I'm not sure it has a collar. Since it is unzipped and you can see the ends of the zipper (and I don't see a collar there) I assumed it was just faced at the neck.

Update on some of my progress (I'm not sure if this is the right thread - if not, please let me know :) )

I need to reglue the leather to the back of the belt, it keeps wanting to curl and come unglued. I found some boots that I am going to operate on. I made some of the belt gadgets from craft foam, gotta make some more.

I got my order of fabric from Fabricsupplier. It is black with a gray backing...it's kind of like a heavy stretchy knit material. I tried overdying it with some blue polyester dye, but unfortunately it didn't do anything, except make a slight bluish tinge to the gray, but not even really noticeable...So I'll just work with the black.

I also got a PPK airsoft gun off of ebay...I tried to spray it with a more "chrome" paint...I may have to do it again because my son and his friend couldn't leave it alone, and now there are finger prints all over it!

Any ideas for the belt buckle? I don't want to use craft foam...too flexible. I thought of maybe making a mold and then casting it in some kind of plastic resin, but I'm not sure how hard that would be, as I've never done it before.

Presto! This thread is such a stress reliever. I've been contemplating this costume since I saw the movie and my biggest migraine has been the fabric.

TO coofunkcurly: I'd be interested in purchasing some of the fabric as well since I have yet to find a reasonable substitute to the real thing.

I am going to do some more searching for close fabrics with a black lycra/spandex base with a dark blue mesh overlay. If I find something, I will certainly come back and post it here.

I know the topic of boots came up and I found a pair that caught my eye.

Sexy Slouchy Medium Heel Wedge Boot SoftComfy - eBay (item 300441158817 end time Sep-24-10 15:32:53 PDT)

They have the wedge base and if I bought them, I would get them in grey. What I like about these is that the color isn't so solid. (If that makes sense) They almost have a "used" look to them and I really like that. I think I'd brush on a darker charcoal grey color to fit the actual color better, but I think they make a good base.

Any way, back to fabric hunting!

Hey everyone! New member here, but I've been following this thread as I develop my Black Widow costume. Just wanted to post this auction I found for a passable wedge version of the strap boots. My idea is to paint the buckles and voila, strappy wedge boots for cheap!

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Nice find. :thumbsup

I don't think I'll be able to get the material done. But I am still trying. The company who did the samples I showed before want the sewing contract. That is where they make their money - not on wholesaling custom fabrics. And I would have to do a run of 20 undersuits at $300 or so a pop in order to make it feasible. I don't think I could ever come close to getting those kind of numbers. But I'll still keep you all posted.

the only problem i see with those boots is they dont have a zip so they are pull on, and that style is often loose..BW's boots are fitted up the leg.

Wow, what an amazing wealth of info here. Where were you guys when I attempted this costume for D*C this year and ditched it because I didn't like how it turned out? For those of us who are sewing challenged (I'm not talented enough to get a body suit out of my sewing machine no matter how much I plead and beg) any thoughts to a premade body suit? I initially had a dive skin but found it was too shiny. I stumbled across a piped wet suit on eBay at one point but can't find it again.

Just a teaser. Can't find anyone willing to model it yet. :lol

I can make more but I would need interest. It's not cheap $250-$300 for a suit. And I would likely need a 10 order minimum to proceed. But I have a feeling the Black Widow ship has already sailed.:unsure

Something else to consider; what if this is the same fabric used for other SHIELD agent uniforms, it could definitely ramp up interest and maybe make things a bit more affordable all around. Granted it's a big if, but possible.
