I saw this the other day and it makes me very happy indeed. Now, we just need to get Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk into the schedule.

Ugh, don't do it. Do they need a strong female character super hero movie? Sure they do, but not this one. I'll have to think on who should step up. Scarlet witch maybe, since her family is crazy powerful and has some killer story lines. Only down side is legal issues.

Black Widow is my daughter's favorite character, (next to Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash) that makes her want to grow up to be a Russian super spy (who also trains horses to be Russian super spies).

Having a Black Widow movie would only encourage her to be more confident, adventuresome, educated, and a force to be reckoned with, and we certainly can't have that in a seven year old girl, can we?

So yeah, this dad is in favor of a Black Widow movie... and until it comes out, I'll just return to training my daughter to shoot, fight, ride, and drive masterfully, thank you very much.

Really? For the studio, it is all about T&A, and Scarlett Johansson delivers.

Actually, they're looking at facts - Hunger Games is a pretty massive hit with a strong female lead; the studio sees this and thinks they can capitalize on it.

Scarlett also delivers the other thing, too. But, she's a pretty major star and a strong lead - her character in the Marvel Movie Universe has been regulated to pretty much the backseat - putting together the big star factor and the need for a strong female role (ala Katniss) is pretty simple.

But seriously I'm glad your daughter wants to be strong, confident and adventuresome. Every girl should have a role model, they don't have to be the same sex. It's what that person stands for is the true quality in them.


I just don't like the movie idea. A black widow movie will be a female version of James Bond. Action, gadgets, use her looks to get things. Plus ill have to see more hawkeye then. Just say no to more hawkeye! Anyway, there are better characters out there for a solo movie. It's jus too bad that so many of the great ones rights are tied up with other studios. Oh one other thing, I don't think Scarlett wants to tight cased as always black widow. Maybe she does if she likes nice checks.


Talking about a great female hero..wonder woman. Let her have her amazon family roots, those were just fine. No need to say she is part of the superman family tree of the past. Let her beat the snot out of the bad guys while saving the men. I wouldn't have a issue with it since she does it all the time.

Personally that's the film I want. And none of this petite hot crap. I want a 6'+ impressive warrior of a woman like it should be!

Black Widow, to me being a neophyte to the comic universe from which she came, is just acrobatics and sex appeal. Not what I'm looking for in a super hero to be honest.

I'm sorry, but I don't see why there would be a movie about her. Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk and Captain America all had interesting backstories enough to carry films individually. The only thing Black Widow in the films has going for her is the typical James Bond stuff that we've seen dozens of times before. Remaining as a secondary character is the only thing she's got that works.

Maybe they could do a prequel for her. Let's find out about all the "red" in her ledger. Maybe we could find out why she also knows what it is like to be "unmade".

What a wonderful idea; make another spin off for yet another boring third rate character. What exactly did she contribute to the Avengers or IronMan films?

I could see the concept going either way. It could be a boring "Look at me, I'm so sexy" thing, or it could take what seems like that on the surface and go a lot deeper with it, showing her background, what drives her, the things she's been through, etc. Make her more of a real character, explain her dedication to SHIELD and the Avengers Initiative, and show why she does what she does. Or just have her pose around in her catsuit looking sexy. I'd prefer the former, though.

I'm totally on board with the Wonder Woman idea. I gravitate toward the ideals she stands for - truth, liberty, justice.

My daughter (aka LittlestJedi) does tend to gravitate towards acrobatics, gymnastics, jumping, climbing, jackie chan martial arts sort of activity, and above all - wit and intelligence to think one's way through a situation, which I think is what she sees in Black Widow that attracts her. As my daughter is also herself incredibly petite (always been 50th percentile or less in height/weight for her age group), that appeals to her as well, rather than a woman of WW or Xena warrior strength. She's rather perceptive for a child her age.

No, she doesn't. She's the laziest actress I have ever seen and horribly miscast for the role. She does hardly of her own fight stunts and hell, she doesn't even have a Russian accent. She was just hired for her looks.

If Marvel wanted a Russian accent, she would've done one or they would've hired an actress that could've. Same with stunts, it's not like the other actors are doing their own stunts.

It's like saying, Mark Ruffalo is the laziest actor ever, he doesn't turn into the Hulk, he just relies on CG.
