Black Series X-Wing Helmet Repaint!

I did for this helmet! I used my Cricut Maker to cut them out, although I only had white vinyl here to work with; I painted over them—with the exception of the rebel insignias— with acrylic , making them look kind of screen printed. The eyes are painted on though, as the vinyl didn’t want to go on smooth due to the contours of the helmet there.
A friend of mine has a Circuit Maker... any chance you'd share files the files for your vinyl?

Not possible by the license :( .
Leaving out the electronics, or a "blank" helmet? The did have that "design your own" droid thing a while back, so I wouldn't think a helmet would be too much of a stretch. Disney/Lucasfilm makes money off each helmet sold, and judging by the number of repaints and the possible number of casual fans who would invest in one just to make it their own, NOT making them available that way would be bad business. Who here who hasn't bought one would definitely get one if it came as a customizable kit? End rant.

By the way, nice job. It looks very much in universe without feeling like a direct copy of something else.

Leaving out the electronics is not possible. they use the toy license loophole and are working at the edge of whats possible on the black series.

Thanks for the clarification. That doesn't, however, preclude the possibility of a "design your own" helmet.

I bought one of these Hasbro X-Wing helmets on sale when the pandemic started, and recently decided to repaint it entirely. I’d have to say—this being my first Black Series helmet—that it’s surprisingly well made for the money. Now I know why everyone else keeps buying these haha!

I didn’t want to replicate a particular theme, so I borrowed elements from a few helmets and chose different colors. Overall this was super fun to do. I might add a few more graphics to it, but haven’t decided what yet. I may also add a bit more weathering, but generally am staying more conservative for this one.

I'm super new to this. How did you remove the original "paint job?" I assume sand paper. If so, what grit?

Wow nice job. I'm trying to convert the Trapper Wolf helmet version in Luke Skywalker's, so I have to sand the old paint scheme out, spray a base coat to fill the sanding job, and a matte white paint, before applying all the decals I've already printed. What I fear is to damage the yellow visor with paint, so I need to take the helmet apart, or if it'd be impossible (and it seems so....), I have to mask the inside of the helmet out, perfectly. Any suggestion would be much appreciated....
Thanx

Disassembly is possible, but really difficult and not for the faint of heart! There are screws to remove, but you still have to pry the sections until their connections break. Easier to just mask the visor.

Yeah, actually after having removed all the screws from the inside I found out that removing the inside is almost impossible. I think I'm going on with the masking option. I'll post pics of the results when done

the visor itself does not require a full stripdown to remove, if you look up to it from the inside you notice clip "noses" holding it in, using a flathead screwdriver to push them to the front while pulling at the visor allows to unclip it.

Its mainly the front mohawk part and the back section of the mohawk strip that are stubborn. I really wonder why some of the BS helmets are a PITA for the customizers and others are much easier to strip apart (clonetrooper one got no such surprises for example)
