Bizarre question about Disney’s “Tangled”. Was it edited?

Ok, so this is a totally bizarro question.

A couple of years ago I was watching Disney’s Tangled with my GF.
I’m pretty certain it was my BluRay copy but it’s possible it could have been on Netflix.

As we were watching it we both noticed something very bizarre.
Apparently the animators took the liberty of adding some pretty realistic textures to the characters...Including a blue vein on Mother Gothel’s boob.
It was so blatant, random and bizarre that My GF and I couldn’t help joking about out through the entire movie.

So last night on Disney+ we decided to watch Tangled again...and low and behold the vein was gone.
I went ahead and decided to check if my BluRay version and it was also missing the vein.

We’ve been on Google looking at screencaps of Mother Gothel and cant find any evidence of this.

The only answer I can think if is that we watched it on Netflix and it happened to be an unedited early version of the movie? (Is that even possible?)

Sorry for weirdo question but its driving my GF and I crazy and Im wondering if any of the movie experts on here know anything about this??

Chances are that if you remember seeing it on your BluRay several years ago but it is not on your BluRay now then the memory might have embellished things a bit. If Netflix had altered the film it would have touted it as a special edition of something IMO.
Disney generally does not alter releases aside from picture quality enhancements- the only two exceptions I can think of right now is the removal of the Jessica Rabbit beaver flash and something odd seen in a building window in the city flight scene from Peter Pan (both of which were snuck in by animators and not caught until the original version had been released).

Maybe...But Both my GF and I BOTH clearly remember this.
She even found a Facebook post she made about it 3 years ago.

I know Disney recently edited the Han Greedo scene again without announcing it as a special edition.

I actually noticed the same thing when my family went to a rerelease of Tangled at AMC theaters a couple of months ago. Maybe it’s only visible on a really large screen or really hi quality displays. Either way I can confirm it was there until at least a few months ago.

I just looked on Disney+


It just says “star wars episode 4 a new hope”.

Dont see any special edition titles or labels on it.

You noticed it as well?

At least thats one confirmation.
Maybe disney got complaints about it and quietly altered it.


So my GF and I arent crazy. Lol
 
The term "Special Edition" hasn't been used since the VHS release of the 1997 theatrical Special Editions. For the 2000 VHS rebox, the 2004 trilogy DVD box set, 2006 standalone DVD release (with the crappy-transfer OOT bonus discs), 2011 BluRay box set, 2013 BluRay Original Trilogy steelbook and DVD/BluRay box set, 2015 complete saga steelbook series, and 2019 DVD/BluRay rebox the films are all just called by their titles. No "Special Edition". One could argue that, since they've been modified further from the 1997 theatrical releases, they technically aren't those films, just as they aren't the OOT.

Side note: The 2008 OT DVD box set is the only release of the OOT in disc format as standalone, rather than as bonus content for the re-re-re-Special Edition. But it's still the crappy transfer of said bonus discs. Intriguing, though, that it's not the post-1997 versions of those films.

Unless we both are suffering mass delusions. Seriously though, I have a 7 year old daughter so have seen Tangled many times on TV over the years. When I finally saw it on the big screen, it wasn’t only the that detail which stood out to me, but I never realized Rapunzel had freckles. So many details that get lost in the small screen.

I said Disney doesn’t necessarily announce a special edition whenever they make an edit.

Case in point- SW A New Hope.
