Hey all, really great forum you've got. I'll be attending my first convention in a couple of months and I'm quite excited! I've played Warhammer and taken art classes, but cosplaying is something I'm completely new at. I'd like to make my own outfit (preferably two or three), with the main objective being I don't walk to walk into the con looking like a complete novice to the hobby.

Oh, and being a teenager I want to spend as little money as possible :p

So... Project one - Splicer. I don't care if this ends in shambles; it'll be a learning experience. Outfit - wise, I'm thinking bloody shirt, slacks and suspenders. Masks, weapons and props will be more difficult. Here's what I have so far.

That's about it so far, any help with ideas for splicing deformities and scarring would be appreciated, as would home made recipes for fake blood. Cheers and thanks for looking, I'll keep you posted!

Hello,

My first recommendation would be to visit a thrift shop. You can get clothes you don't care about destroying for cheap, which can be very useful -- I found a nice vest for $4 when I was making my splicer costume, which I then sanded and bloodied and burned.

Since you are a teenager, you are also likely growing -- this may mean you have a shirt, etc. that no longer quite fit right -- since the splicer has rolled up sleeves, unbuttoned neck, this can be another way to get a shirt you don't care about destroying while still being able to fit okay.

About deformities -- for a splicer, an easy way to get around having to do complicated deformities is to use bandages. Splicers know that they are messed up, and some of them in the game wore bandages over hands, eyes, etc. Gives you the effect without the latex.

I don't have a good recipe for fake blood, unfortunately, but hopefully someone else will chime in.

Best of luck,

Lingarn
