Question Better Search Function? (answered)

Hi, I'm just wondering if it would be possible for us to have a better search function, as words 3 characters or under aren't included. When you are searching for something like 'Doctor Who' it can be quite frustrating.
Furthermore, if you want to search for '24', you can't.

Since Google is now actively indexing the site more readily, you can use Google as a work around, but even this lacks function in the end...

For Doctor Who, do a Google search for

doctor+who site:therpf.com

For 24, do a search for

"24" site:therpf.com

But be aware the 24 one will pop a ton of irrelevant page 24 and 1:24 & 1/24 results...

You can try using this search excluding the page 24, 1:24 (1/24 Google treats 1:24 as equal to 1/24 so you only have to exclude it once) but this search likely excludes some legit hits...

-"page 24" -1:24 24 site:therpf.com

Actually, 3 characters should be searchable as we made that change some time back because of the large number of 3 character acronyms.

Even though we now allow 3 character searches that doesn't mean that it will work with any 3 characters.

Search this thread for "who" and it will still fail because "who" is in the "too common" word list.

Search this thread for "hmm" and you will find it, because "hmm" is not considered a common 3 letter word.
