Best source for working Mark IX/X Tricorder?

So I might actually be able to buy me a tricorder in a week or so.

What's the best place/person/entity to get a DS9/Voyager Mark IX/X Science tricorder with all the bells and whistles? Or, more specifically, just the blinky lights.. I could give a rat's ass about sound.

I know there were a few private ventures back in the day (and I really mean BACK in the day.. RPF V1.0, see my join date.. hehe), maybe still are, I dunno. Been outta the game for a while. There's also the Roddenberry kits, which tallies up to about what I want to pay (kit + electronics, around $450 or so). That's bad news and good news... the bad news is, I suck at buildups. The good news is that the only buildup I've ever been happy with was a Rodd.com kit. The other bad news is I have no info about the Rodd.com tricorder kit, and the electronics are brand new product (I think), so I doubt anyone has any impressions of it yet? Hell, I was reminded about my tricorder quest by today's email newsletter from Rodd.com that mentioned the new electronics kits.

Or, if anyone has one they'd be willing to part with... ;)

You can always look at Rod.com for a tricorder and lights combo. Or you could contact GMProps about a set. There are also a few other people out there that could make the tricorder but most of those names are associated as being recasters.

That presupposes that MR manages to keep its license w/ Viacom, of course :lol

What about Comm10? He's done a number of MkX's for me, and I've always been very pleased with his work.

Why don't you have Rod.com do a build-up for you.

While I have not seen their electronics, they supposedly done by the people who did them for the show so they should be top-notch.
