I have NO experience working with fiberglass and would rather not start trying to work with it without someone around that could show me the ropes.

I would like to purchase plastic sheeting for building a TARDIS. I was wondering what is the best type of plastic that would hold up well outdoors?
I live in South Carolina and well, it gets pretty hot here. I wouldn't want to buy some cheap plastic sheet that would crack from the heat, and cold, and other weather damage.
Now if there isn't a plastic product that can hold up to this alone, is there some kind of coating I could paint over it to help it hold up well?
The base of the TARDIS would be wood.
