Baylan Skoll / Shin Hati Dark Jedi Costumes - Ahsoka (Series) Star Wars

Boots are almost $500 and only go up to size 10 American. Looks like might need to create something that's good enough to pass.

For Shin's boots, are we sure she's got the taller ones? There's such a large boot cover on top, it seems like the short ones would also suffice...

Edited: I actually prefer the short ones... the big rubber curve on the front of the tall boots seems wider than hers. Although, the shorter ones don't have the second horizontal line that hers appear to have... the intersection of all the lines + the flatness of the sole seem to not completely match either of the ones available.

I thought it was the shorter ones at first because the costumers have been using shorter boots for other characters to reduce bulk under the armor. The taller ones have an extra black piece on the sides that matches the screenshots. Her spats are fabric instead of leather so that would negate the bulkiness of the boots. Here are some comparison photos.

That is where I definitely agree with you - as that's what was throwing me off in the short ones! However, other lines - such as how the rubber toe should be touching the diagonal line in the middle of the sole's side - are like the short boots. And I don't see the curved tops of the tall boots over her boot covers, so why bother? There are parts of both shoe available. Which leads me to think that it may not be exactly either of them. Production would've started before these boots went on sale, if their so-called limited status is to be believed.

Honestly, I'm very happy with choosing the short boots, perfectly accurate or not. It gives me the look, but without the extra sweat-trap of something primarily made of polyester on my entire leg. Star Wars costumes are heat waves enough, as is.

There's so many small variations with these boots, as long as you're happy with them, that's the most important!

Knowing what the color grading in the show does to Shin's beige-ish outfit, the Recondition model actually matches more of what we're both seeing in the lines and shapes - can never quite know with post-production images!

Hello All, Just found this site after starting to print the files. I have started printing and know i have a lot of sanding and finishing ahead of me. But did decide after looking at all the photos here to do my own stone for the buckle.

Please let me know how they are when you get them. I'm curious how comfortable the hidden heels are.

This screenshot of Shin shows how the seams on her suede tunic is edged. Possibly a hand sewn rolled hem.

(putting image as spoiler just in case)
Since you can see the edge/hem at her neck -- there, at least, it's maybe cording, piping, or a pin tuck. The stitching either attaching it, or laid over on top, looks like ye old Star Wars popular herringbone stitch, to me. In fact, the lines on the shoulder look to be a different shape and color than the ones on the tunic body/neck, so I imagine it is a combination of things.

Well, we finished the costume in time for our Starcruiser voyage. 2 weeks of sewing and sanding and inhaling bondo dust. The hook I made for the 3D printed lightsaber didnt secure it and within the first hour, wife and I were walking and it fell off and landed in front of her boot. Saw and heard the crunch and knew it was over for that thing. Also, wished I had more time to find a better finish. The black I used was Rustoleum Hammered Black and the Matte clear finish. Came out shinier than I was hoping, but didnt have time to correct. I would do Matte Black instead. The belt was a challenge, but figured how to cheat the folded lower belt look. Riveted 2 pieces (short piece with finish facing inward and long piece with finish facing out) Allowed me to loop it. Though I spent 30 mins trying to remove a rivet when I did it incorrectly the first time. Then for the upper belt, I simply used velcro to attach the 3D printed buckle and used riveted posts to open and close belt loop. Since we knew I would be wearing this FL 90+ heat and 70+ humidity for one day, the base layer of the shirt and pants was a gauze like material, then the tabard was a two-piece. Top was a vest, 2nd layer, that was used to attached the pauldrons with a velcro hanging setup for mobility. The top layer was distressed leather sewn vest we got lucky finding at a fabric warehouse. We attached the bottom half of the tabard to the obi fabric under the belts as a velcro'd skirt of sorts. this allowed for mobility but also for fast removal if needed. The gauntlets were the most difficult to keep in place. We tried a fabric forearm wrap with velcro to attach to the gauntlets, but they would sag. The being because the gauntlets were printed as front and back side. Ended up just creating a velcro hinge setup inside the gauntlets. The were also a tad too small for my forearms. But we ran out of time to reprint. If you use the stl files that were linked earlier, I would tell you to upscale to at least 105% if you have slight larger forearms and are 5'9" ish. The 110% scale was a little too large and the printer cut off the section near the elbow joint. I have more photos and info on the making of this if anyone is curious. It was my first time making a costume from scratch. Learned a lot. Like dont try to do this in 2 weeks. let me know
Looks so good! I am currently working on a Shin Hati cosplay and would love some insight of how you made/sew the vest :)

Sure! We managed to find a fabric store that had just enough distressed leather scraps. It was like 3 or 4 pieces about 2'x2'. They wife worked out a pattern of chevrons after measuring my torso. one 2x2 was used for the base, then the chevrons were sewn over that in the pattern seen. Didnt have time to whip stitch, would have stood out more, but just the stitching as it was was good enough that people knew.I'll try and take some photos after work and post of the pattern. I think we still have it lying around.

Thanks a pattern would definitely help!

Is anyone here familiar enough with electronics/etc to give me an exact shopping list of what I'd need to have a duelable Hati saber? I've found a few empty hilt prints available on Etsy so far, but the saber/LED/which version/chassis is beyond me.

It's a complicated question. The first thing you need to consider is that 3D printed hilts will not be duel-worthy. The emitter will be a weak spot when you factor in the pressures on it from the blade, particularly if it's a heavy pixel blade.

Guess I just mean that I want it to be durable, rather than that I do any real choreography.
