Battlestar Galactica - Remastering A Classic

Re: Bsg: Tos se

YEAH BABY YEAH!

Had to put on my Jacket and light up the Helmet for that one!

Re: Bsg: Tos se

Just saw this myself as well... I'd be all over a set of blu-rays if this ever actually came to fruition!

Re: Bsg: Tos se

That clip was great, I am really digging this! I have 2 sets of TOS and will get this one too. Thank you for the post and heads up.

Re: Bsg: Tos se

I hope this project happens, I'd buy it a copy in a heartbeat. The best part is that it was only 1 season so there's only set to buy.

Re: Bsg: Tos se

Beautifully done!

You get a huge :thumbsup from the Captain!!

The point is, this is a trailer for a pitch, not someone's demo reel.

Those are my Viper, cockpit .5, Raider update, and Tanker update. Also, this was done 5 years ago. Will the intended projects be green-lit in this pass? Who knows.

Re: Bsg: Tos se

^ Thanks. In the interests of full disclosure: I'm not sure that the trailer should have made it online. It sure as hell shouldn't have when I was working on it and shortly after. I'm waiting to hear what the deal is from the lead. I expect the project (which actually hasn't been hinted at) may be being suggested once again. It's got merit.

Those of us on it, the lead and myself in particular, know the series, production quirks (ahem) which led to what needs to be resolved even 35 years on, assets etc in and out/back and forth (we were on a budget in terms of time alas- this was full nights and weekends, no finances involved, so sharp eyes will notice the corners cut but I think we got the love where needed the most)...

And, I'd love a chance to get Viper 3.0 going and make its debut to the world (what is in the trailer is 1.0- look left <<<<<< and its proxy in most of the shots- I build damn good proxies) Additionally, have updated the launch tube, got the Gs guns going, lots of bits ready to roll, just need to be given the word. ;-) There's sooo much I want to dig into for this as well.

But if nothing comes of it, hell, enjoy the clip while it's around.

Re: Bsg: Tos se

It is very good work, it fits in much better than the remastered Trek stuff.

Re: Bsg: Tos se

Wow, that really does look terrific. I mean, I appreciate the old-school f/x in their own right, but that looks a lot more dynamic and really puts the viewer in the scene.

Terrific work, and whether it happens or not, I really enjoyed the clip.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Demo Reel - Remastering A Classic

what i would like to know is why lloyd bridges blew up the tankers :p

Re: Battlestar Galactica Demo Reel - Remastering A Classic

It's been a while, but I think if captured the fuel would've enabled Galactica to continue its journey without having to join Pegasus in a foolhardy raid he wanted.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Demo Reel - Remastering A Classic

Anyway, those are great models, and the execution of the shots are very nice. Dynamic without being over-the-top "because we can" showy. There was really only one shot I took exception to, where there was an unmotivated bi-axis camera move on a simple cutaway to a Viper cockpit display panel. Minor thing. Would've been an interesting project.

That said, there is nothing wrong with the original effects, other than the fact that they had to rely on stock shots a lot.
