Battlestar Galactica 2003 scratch build

Not much to report. A little more ribbing and I tried to plastic wrap the tail of that engine and while it looks OK I’m not 100% happy with it so I think I’m going to cut it off and try to do it in sections and hope I get a better fit. I did not get around to trying the armor plates tonight so that’ll have to be another day. But, to me at least, it’s starting to look like Battlestar Galactica
LOL. It’s probably time I start running fiber optic through this thing to before I lose access to the inside by doing too much on the outside

still working on the vipers

the problem is at this scale a lot of details do not print, unfortunately that includes the vertical fin

I painted them with Testors Intermediate Blue since that is great match and what I used for my 1/72 ones and tried to add the cockpits and engine color

They are supposedly sized correctly for roughly 1/2000 scale, but the Viper MK VII is a relatively small ship compared to other fighters

Look how tiny it seems compared to an F-18 for example

I think they’re great , who is going to look that closely anyway.

Is it just me or does the upper engine look really big?

I don't think so. Once you get the other engines in place along with the head and hanger bays, it will all balance out.

Almost got this engine pod whipped, having a bit of trouble with the rear end but I’ll figure it out when I get to the nozzle. I took artistic liberty with the armor plates, it was easier but still looks like it should just not exact

Pod is done for all intents and purposes. Just gotta figure out the nozzle. Since the fine ribbing tapers down this could take a while…for just one, and there’s four! Jeeez

This is nozzle for engine one. It’s half covered with Rod so far. Im not sure if I like it or not. Maybe alternating thick and thin plates front to rear? Or…???

I realize this is what the nozzle is supposed to look like but I’m having a hard time letting myself like it. In other news, I wired up a flickering blue light to the upper engine and did a light test and debating about the baffling to get the right affect from the light

OK, sent them off. I will send you the tracking number later in pm
The pencil lines are the gap between the ribs so it looks pretty right to me. I knew the flight pods were cathedral like but this looks more like a a super dome stadium
