OK guys, this is where I’m at with the flight pods. I had originally planned to do the lighting from above but it occurred to me I could do it from the floor so between each one of these ribs in the flight pod there’s gonna be a 2 mm white LED coming up from the floor and I don’t know whether to filter them with really thin styrene or just leave them open for maximum brightness. There will be another eight going down the other side of the pod so there will be 16 total in each pod.

The last two pictures didn’t load so here they are you’ll see that there’s two pictures with the light ones with a cover one is not but of course I won’t really know how bright is going to be in till I get paint in there

I soldered up the red lights that glow inside the pod recesses, and started on the interior of the flight PODS. I still haven’t figured out how I’m going to get that yellow stripe down the middle of the runway what else I’m gonna stuff in there but I think I’m on the right track

By the way my friends, since I’m gonna have so much work into this project I don’t wanna Frack up the paint job. It needs to have a silvery sheen to it but not completely so I’m open to suggestions on this matter. My thought was using the same metallic charcoal that I used on my 20,000 leagues under the sea ships, and then going heavy with pastel powder in the right places and then sealing it with a dull clear. However if any of you guys of got better suggestions please, throw them out there. Thanks guys

Looking awesome! Is it an illuminated stripe? I haven’t watched it in a while…I used a craft paint thatt I got at a craft store like Micheals,metallic but not ‘sparkly’. Cheap and shot through the airbrush cut with alcohol. Doing great work anyways hurry and finish.

Illuminated no, I had a few fleeting thoughts about that and sure I could pull it off pretty easily but I decided not to go there. Reflective paint is a thought though.

Tamiya makes a color called light gunmetal that would make a good base coat. I've only used the rattle can, not sure if their is a bottle version. As for the yellow stripe on the flight pod floor, perhaps a custom decal? Or just if you could find a fine point yellow ink pen, them you could use a ruler to draw on the stripe.

The pods look fantastic, btw.

Thanks, I think they’ll be good, being they’ll probably be a focal point. I’ll look into that paint, and see if I can find some yellow decal. Thanks for the tips
