Battlestar Galactica 2003 scratch build

Thanks, I think they’ll be good, being they’ll probably be a focal point. I’ll look into that paint, and see if I can find some yellow decal. Thanks for the tips
I’m sorry,I was recommending the craft paint for the top coat. For the stripe in the bay I would paint either a very thin strip of styrene or even tape.

I thought that’s what you meant use it as a topcoat, all good. I think I’m just gonna mask off and shoot that yellow stripe with the airbrush it’ll come out fine I just have to do some research on the flight pod and see if there’s any dashes in it or if it’s one solid all the way down

Tucking away the wiring under the pod was tricky because the lower section is going to be pretty shallow but it’ll work. A few of these pics are with a crap battery but I found a good one and took a couple more
Always test the lights my friends, I got this all soldered up and two of them were junk

Ok well I think I’ve done all I can do in the flight pod. I’m going to put some black wash on this wall that’s complete and start framing up the other side and get that wall ready to go up. Our good friend and brother analyzer is sending me some scale vipers he printed for me and as soon as I get those in there and placed I can button this up and continue on. I think I might also Drybrush some silver in there in a couple of places just to liven things up a little little

Another thing I was just now thinking about, I’m going to build a starboard side flight deck as the museum as it was in the show. But since they took all the vipers out of there and started using them again it’s going to be relatively empty, except for if I can find a 1/2000 or so scale millennium falcon on Shapeways lol
Dude... I'll print you one and mail it to you... I have some great stl MF files.

Mighty kind of you brother, I appreciate that. You know, now that I’m in Wisconsin and not Arizona, you me and probably analyzer ought to make an effort at some point to get together. I think both of you are in Pennsylvania so I can come that way
Any time! And that sounds like a great idea to me.

Well fellas I got a tell ya, cutting these curve panels almost put me in a sweat. Had to break out the putty but it’ll be fine after I get some more paint on it and re-skin with some super thin sheet

That looks really good, man.
Thanks buddy, I’m sure it’s not quite what it’s supposed to look like, but…this is only the second time I’ve tried a scratch build so, flaws are going to be abundant lol
Clearly my beam cutting could use some improvement lol but it’ll look like Galactica, just a little sloppy

I was going to try to avoid it but I stated in an earlier post that the PODS support arms are too low in the hull and I was going to leave it thinking no one would know or notice but I’ll notice and worse yet, I’ll know… but doing the pods right there’s no way it would look like they would tuck in. So tomorrow I’m gonna have to do surgery and cut my pod supports out and chop the upper section of the hull higher and raise the pod arms up…dammit

Pulling out the pod supports left some gaping holes up inside the pod recesses but I had an idea which she’ll Aud me to add a couple more red lights. The important thing is is now the pod aligns better with the recess

Continued along the aft port side today. After I ribbed I decided to chop down the ribs where the armor plates go and install a thinner sheet to support the thicker mosaic panels that have to be individually cut and fitted together rather than simply scribing them onto one piece of plastic. That way I can vary the thickness of each lending a bit of realism

Frak'n amazing! That pod looks stunning.

Will the mosaic paneling extend a bit beyond the ribs to give the look of them setting atop the ribs? Mobius got this detail so wrong with the panels butting up against the ribs.
