Battle Droid blaster rifle research

Hey guys, I've been collecting reference for making a battle droid blaster rifle and I came across these old Hasbro toy rifles and they almost look like they were originally made from a scan or a mold of the prop. Does anyone know the history on how Hasbro made those rifles?

Is it me or does the top cylinders have the same warp to them as the prop? seems like most people recreating these would have made them straight.

I never noticed how close that toy was to the real prop? I actually have that in a box somewhere. I may be tempted to get it out, and repaint it. Anyone know how close it is in size? I imagine it was probably scaled down a bit.

For my personal build, you can see the progress of the work starting here and continues through the thread: My Builds: Imp Field Knife, R1 Rebel Helmet, Jyn Doll, Ahsoka Hilts, Rey Staff, etc

My build was sort of a add-on because I had Corellianexports do a lot of the heavy lifting many years prior (removal of the fake rails, sheeting in the forgrip area, metal barrel insert, mag extension). I replaced the plastic rails with metal rails, filled screw holes, and weathered. This is the end result.

I definitely see that bend. Means the one on the wall is probably rubber or a bent solid resin cast, which is probably then what Hasbro got for designing the toy - interesting!

I have not looked at this blaster closer until today.... quite a few sterling influences

That upgrade mod link is awesome. Its crazy how accurate Hasbro was with their toys 20 years ago.

The toy is very close as is the Grevious Blaster.
If you look the prop used a Hasbro E11 for the handle.

I think there were a couple of prop versions and the CGI version at least I think was about 10% bigger.
When I made my battle droid I had to cut away quite a bit of the handle opening on the toy to make the hand fit, and I am quite confident of my BDscale :)
