Batmobile replica

THAT IS PRETTY AMAZING. Thanks for the post.

But a million? I bet a gaggle of RPFers coulda hammered that away in no time for a fraction of the cost!

wheels can be fixed.
Ya, you can concievably rack up a 1mil. bill in no time on these cars. All depends on if you hire, or farm the work out. bill out a dozen seasoned craftsmen at 100.00 an hour for 6months. then shop rental, utility bills, add to that the stuff inside, you can spend 100K on a Winston cup engine, add features, even more. All depends. Labor is usually a huge cost. These cars are actually worse than building a house. That's why you see very few us who actually completed them.
I did mine with 0 help, not farming one thing out. Had to - can't afford to hire anyone who knows how to do stuff. did in the mangy 2 car garage, all of it. Tons of work. I got some poo poo in gizmondo too I think.

So doody, what would you say your's ended up costing?

I wish there were a video showing it in action and the interior... along with what it can do.

I just saw this and checked here to see if it was posted. The RPF doesn't disappoint!

So, did I see a Hurst lightning rod shifter set up in that video? If so, cool! :thumbsup

It definitely depends on how much of it you need to farm out. I used to browse over at chickslovethecar.com and they are always making progress (sometimes slow progress :) ) on batmobile projects.

Thats all they do over there. If you can do some of the work yourself I think it could be done for MUCH less than $1 mil.

I just saw that they had a bit more information at Jalopnik. One of the comments suggested that maybe it is 1 million kronor, which is about $170K.

Exactly..I've called out this car as BS since day one....I still say we'll NEVER see a vid of ANYTHING that proves it's nothing more than an outer shell....Yeah I said it. You have a vid (crappy one) of engine sounds...whoop dee doo.

I think something as epic as a tumbler being built would have a little more documentation to go with the plywood exterior..........

Prove me wrong.

In the very unlikely case where this would JUST be an outer shell, gotta admit it's awesome anyway. I mean i've never seen another one that big and that convincing. Of course it would be great if it could actually work, but i'm sure doody can provide footage :thumbsup

Thalon designs build the car off a model (1:18 hotwheels I think). It was made for a Swedish Rocker. He looks like David Lee Roth a lil' bit. He also has an Eleanor.

They built a positive in foam and then carbon fiber, not fiberglass. They took some liberties, but all-in-all a great replica. 170k seems about right.

I would never-ever go that far to build such a gorgeous car and then put some cheap ass spray painted wheels on it. horrible.

what do you know about cars? I guarentee you do not know half as much as the folks a laneauto. they are one if not THE biggest race car parts place in the world. get ready for some more posts. lots of posts.

I want to believe that it wasn't intended as mean spirited as it came off and was meant to be a prod to get some more juicy footage. But then again, maybe it wasn't. Hard to tell across the internet, sure didn't sound very polite.
