Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I think my opinion will be the opinion of the vast majority of the public, and my opinion is that Aquaman is an incredibly lame character, and anything Snyder can do to make him cooler is a step in the right direction, or at any rate can't possibly hurt. The WORST decision would've been to go with anything remotely resembling the original design, which looks like Fred from Scooby-Doo impersonating a pumpkin (while talking to fish). Not trying to troll, because I know how much these things matter to fans, but Snyder's gotta rope in a much broader audience, and the overwhelming feeling among non-DC diehards is that Aquaman sucks. This design actually makes him look like he's not a joke, and I dig it. Now let me put my flame-proof suit on... :p
I feel that the original design didn't need to be discarded entirely. I mean, if Marvel could make Thor work then anything possible.

Haha very valid point. I thought Thor was silly as crap until the MCU had its way with him (well, I liked crazy Ultimates Thor, but that was the exception that proves the rule). I love movie Thor.

I'm digging the darker feel of DC's line-up. There's a nice edge taking shape. If they keep this up, The Avengers are gonna start to look like a boy-band.

You can have a dark feel without making the characters needlessly dark (Superman, for example).

Since they are going with that look for Aquaman, I have one complaint: He has too many hands

That may be, but so far I like the way the Marvel universe has been translated from the comic book page to the silver screen recently. I say let DC have the dark, gritty, real-world look and feel in their movies, and let Marvel keep doing what they're doing.

There could've been subtle, dark non-garish usage of green and orange. Wouldn't have to come out cheesey.

If you look at his pants, although you can't see much you can tell they are a darker green like he normally has. Very fish scale like. I think what ends up happening is they darken or mute the colors in the costumes already, then Snyder like to use lens filters to darken the colors as well. The end result is much like this. I still really like it and can't wait to see all the new characters in motion.

Last I read, Jared Leto said he was "trying to gain weight" for the Joker role. This had me thinking. Why would an actor GAIN weight to be the Joker? Then the rumor was they were going the direction of the Joker from the Dark Knight Returns. If this is true, I don't really know what to say. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't care for that version of the Joker.

I really didnt care for the buff joker either. Jared has a long way to go in a short period of time if they are going that route

I really just didn't like anything about that version. The white suit coat didn't work. The look didn't look. He looked like a big dude with lipstick on.

Well that version of the Joker was a study in the duality between Batman and the Joker. With Batman having been off the scene for some time, Joker no longer had any reason to exist. He's always seen himself as the yin to Batman's yang. With no Batman, there was no need for Joker. That's why when Batman disappeared, Joker reverted back to some semblance of sanity. With Batman's reemergence, the Joker also reemerged. However, he was still much saner than before, hence the less flamboyant clothing and more calculating attitude. He also knew that with Batman's more aggressive, take-no-prisoners style, his only shot at bringing down the Bat was to frame him for his murder. That's why he killed himself. In his own twisted mind, he had already accomplished what he wanted all along... to turn Batman from hero to villain. Killing himself was just a means of speeding up the process. In essence, Joker won that fight, even though it cost him his life. That, to me, is what made that Joker scarier than the Clown Prince of Crime Joker.

That was really well put. I didn't look at it like that.

The Dark Knight Returns Joker looks huge and big because that was pretty much Miller's style at the time. Most of his figures are big and boxy.

The Mad Professor hit the nail on the head on the assessment of the Joker's motivation. I also think the white jacket(s) worn through the series is meant to be contrasting to Bats' dark colors.

He's got the look and he's not a bad actor, the rest depends on the script, which I believe will be good. It has to be, there is too much at stake here for WB to fail. On the side note, look into his eyes, it looks like there is a reflection of Superman in it. Or a man in a cape at least.
