I tend to agree drcraig13, when he was first announced I thought they were going to surprise us all by giving him short blonde hair with a clean shaven face-- just a complete 180 from Mamoa's traditional look, not unlike Rooney Mara in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But no, it's just Jason Mamoa dressed like Aquaman, lol. Though he does look formidable I have to admit.

I think that he could be really good in the role I just don't like the redundant look. I mean if you actually read Plato's Timaues Atlantis was a place for Poseidon's children and other God's children and their parents to go. So the whole Hawaiian/Polynesian look doesn't really fit IMO. I didn't expect him to be the blonde headed white washed comic book character that we all know from the Super Friends but this doesn't make a lot of since to me based on what Atlantis is from a historical narrative.

I think if you took away the tat's and made him not look like every other character he has ever played and you have something.

I think he looks great. I love the translation of the scales into tattoos. I'm happy.
