Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Since this is the RPF I'm just going to throw this out there - I think Gadot with her ridiculously skinny body was cast with a particular costume in mind, that being a more armored version of the WW costume instead of the traditional skimpy outfit.

Firstly let's get one thing straight - she will NEVER get big enough to do this character justice. She can eat chicken breasts and protein shakes and hit the gym 8 hours a day for the next 12 months, it's just not possible. The best she can accomplish is adding a little bit of muscle and getting more toned.

With that in mind, if they actually introduce the WW outfit in this movie, I doubt it'll be anything like the traditional costume. A skinny body works well with an armored costume because the costume will look proportional, so I'm guessing they're going to go with some kind of Amazonian plated armor look for WW with maybe pants or a medium-length skirt. Almost all the shots with Kryptonian armor in MoS were mo-cap CGI, if they do this with WW they can also bulk her up in post-production. They went with quite a radical departure with Supes' costume in MoS, easy to see they could do the same with WW and possibly Batman as well.

Also consider that all 3 frontrunners - Gadot, Kurylenko, and Young - are all sticks. Coincidence? I think not.

Unfortunately, none of this addresses her acting ability :lol

Are people actually perplexed as to who Wonder Woman is though?

Or do we need to hold people's hands and give them a standalone film.

... or Spider-Man, the question should be, Why not a Wonder Woman stand alone film? The last time we saw her was the seventies! That being said, I think this actor is a terrible choice. Oh sure, pretty face, but is that W W?

Bale went from The Machinist to Batman Begins...

I don't think she can go THIS extreme, but I think she'll be fine.

Women don't build muscle as quickly and easily as men. Also Bale slimmed down for the Machinist, his natural weight is closer to his Batman body. Gadot has always been that skinny, makes it much more difficult.

I don't mind this casting choice, actually. I just fear that WB is going to do something stupid like make her the conquest the two men are fighting over. :facepalm

I've got the preliminary draft of a blog post on the subject down. I'm just giving it some time to percolate before posting.

Maybe Supes reveling himself and his "super powers" will serve as a catalyst for other super heroes to come forward. The cats out of the bag, and now their coming out of the wood work ;)

Besides, Bale is one of those crazy method actors that gets REALLY into a role. I doubt this girl has that level of committment to the character. It feels more like a "Michael Bay" form of casting a female role... she has to be hotter than her actual acting talent. Look at the twit from Dark of the Moon... good god.

There are at least a couple WW casting call threads that give far better choices than this one. My ideal WW is a female that has a large presence... a woman that could stand up to Superman in a fight for a period. Not a skimpy little girl with power... but one that looks like a strong, powerful woman that delivers even more. Find me her.

Keep in mind that as humans we equate strength=muscle. Yes, theyve always been drawn as such, but Superman could look like pre supersoldier Steve Rodgers and be exactly as strong as Superman. Though in Wonder Womans case, I'd agree there should be a level of fitness about her. Supposed to have Amazonian qualities, and be intimidating on sight.

As far as DC not liking their characters, I think its closer to say that DC loves its characters, but its TW/WB parents dont give a crap, and they pay the bills

Everything surrounding this movie is so damn hush hush I can't even get ahold of a synopsis or outline. Judging from the clues and the fact they've said the movie has a Dark Knight/ Kingdom Come quality - Batman is weary and has been doing this awhile - I'm thinking he'll already know Wonder Woman and whoever else they decide to toss into this gumbo, hero-wise. He'll gather a team together to confront Superman, who everyone will see as a possible future threat.

WB is crazy though - if any of these characters NEEDS an origin movie it's Wonder Woman - most people have no idea who she is where she comes from - not like Superman, Batman or Spider-Man. The whole Paradise island thing could so bitchen to see properly -- where did the lasso come from? How strong is she? Invisible Jet? Even the television show only showed so much and that was so long ago only the nostalgia buffs could tell you what. No kids know about that show.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions and I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong, but I disagree with pretty much everything in that blog.

Firesprite - you complain in your blog about "guys" not knowing what Wonder Woman really means to women" -- I think you may be off a little there. The people I now work with seriously WANT the character to work - there have now been over 40 different takes pitched on how to approach the character and have her sell to both women and men. Not knowing if you've noticed but she is the one thing Marvel doesn't have - a strong leading woman who stands with her toes on the battle line right beside their top selling male characters.

And I don't really care about who they cast - no one will ever match Lynda. She looked perfect and played the character earnestly. Hanging out with her on the set of Sky High she told me "putting on the costume would do something to her - she felt important wearing the thing and it finally came to her that what that suit did was transform her into the ultimate teacher for all the kids watching. Once she knew she had cemented herself in the role she began crossing out lines in the script that came across wishy washy or non confident. She said a woman in a suit barking commands or taking charge (especially back then) would be labeled a bitch (her words not mine) -- not Wonder Woman. With her, both the men and women are cheering her on.

I told her that when she put that costume on it did something to me too.

And she hit me.

I think you guys aren't looking at Zack Snyder's track record. After Sucker Punch, Snyder's proven he is an extremely competent moviemaker when it comes to putting women on the big screen.
