4-Minute Video of Saturday's Filming for Batman vs. Superman! | Superhero Hype

Details from Batman-News.com:

"It started with Warner Bros. telling the crowd that they were going to be in Batman vs. Superman. Yes, a Warner Bros. representative referred to the movie as Batman vs. Superman. That’s still not the official title, but it’s one that keeps coming up. Warner Bros. also announced that this would be the opening of the movie. Then two scenes were filmed. Both plays were from around Gotham city’s 30 yard line. The first play was a tackle for a Metropolis loss. The second was for a touchdown pass to the corner of the end zone for Metropolis. Then the bench cleared for Gotham and they had to break up a fight on the field. Gotham never even went on offense."

From the video description:

"Day 1 of filming for 2015's "Batman Vs. Superman". The scene takes place at Gotham City University's Stadium facing off against rivals Metropolis University. Everyone in the audience was given various Gotham Football shirts. Some black, some yellow, some T Shirts, some sweatshirts, etc. Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300, Man of Steel) was on set, however the main characters were not there."

Rumor has it, and take it with a grain of salt because it came from a "friend" of an extra, but supposedly Ben Affleck filmed a scene in the locker room earlier, possibly giving a speech/pep talk, before the mob of extras arrived to film that evening. In a way it kind of makes sense simply because the only filmed 2 plays outside and they had the stadium for the entire day. It would be beneficial to use it while they had it rather then come back when no other extras were needed.

"... And that man's name was Dick Grayson. He said, when things are looking bad and the Legion of Doom are beating the boys - tell them to dig deep down and give it everything they got and win just one for the Dicker. I don't know where I'll be said Dick, but I won't smell too good that's for sure."

Ben Affleck Talks Batman vs. Superman - ComingSoon.net

Al Norton: Do you remember your first thought when the idea of you playing Batman was originally presented to you and was there a tipping point in your decision making process, a moment where you started to think, "I really want to do this"?

Ben Affleck: Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn't fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it's the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack's vision.

Al Norton: Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently said that this version of Batman would be "tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile"... Is that how you envisioned him as well and what would you add to the description on the Bruce Wayne side of things?

Ben Affleck: Yes, Kevin described it aptly. I don't want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.

Obviously your quoting something, but I fail to see what it has to do with this movie.

Someone mentioned that Bruce (Ben) might have given a pep talk in the locker room before the game; hence, the Win One For The Gipper reference.

Kevin Feige said something I've been arguing all along in an interview recently. He was asked if he thought WB was rushing their shared universe. And he said the following:

"I think there's probably lots of different ways to achieve something. We have to remember that The Avengers comics only happened because the Justice League comic was successful in the '60s. Now the movies are happening because The Avengers movie was successful. And what was fun about The Avengers, is that it was existing, well-known heroes, all teaming up teaming up or the first time. Certainly Batman and Superman are well-known. So, they have that."

Yeah, unless they just basically throw in the Super Friends line up, other than maybe Flash, Green Lantern and possibly Hawkman, most of the general audience is not going to know who they are. Outside of fandom, nobody knows who the Martian Manhunter, Zatana, etc is.

Kevin, if you think I'm going to agree with you that the Avengers comprised of well-known heroes, you're out of your mind. Before this Disney/Marvel universe started, I had no idea who Tony Stark was, or Thor, Loki, Jarvis, War Machine, Black Widow and Hawkeye. If Disney had it's way, Spiderman would be front and center in the Avenger's ensemble while everyone tried to play catchup. While I'm sure a lot of folks here knows these characters before they had their movies, I did not, and I'm very relieved the studios gave them all a shot. They were forced to use characters who aren't as popular as Spiderman or Wolverine, but they made it work.

It's like they're actually trying to bury Wonder Woman by outright saying she's a nobody.

Just because you didn't know who the various members of The Avengers were before the movies came out doesn't mean that the general populace doesn't unless you honestly believe that you're representative of the public at large. Even before their respective movies I'd hardly call Iron Man & Thor unknowns, the others may not be as well known but the first 2 definitely not, both had their own cartoon series back in the 80s, Thor had a live action series/movie prior to the one we all now know as did Capt. America, hell, Iron Man was even featured in a Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath song.

Been talking about this before about how well known the avenger members were before their respective standalone/avenger movie and i honestly think that the majority had no idea about the characters Thor, cap etc. The only ones that were known were Iron man and Hulk. When you would have asked someone about Thor, most would say the god from the norse mythologie for example.

If after Batman/Superman DC does not make a movie about another character then i honestly think their missing out (if they arent already). Sure i would still enjoy seeing a stand alone superman and batman aswell but first they should delve bit deeper. For example Aquaman could be a great character or Wonder woman. Then DC would have finally have somehing done first, which is a standalone female superhero movie.

First, I never said the "general populace" didn't know about them, and I never said that they were "unknowns". Second, I was talking as a person who is more of a movie goer than a comic book reader. I could care less if Thor had a live action TV show, or if Iron Man was featured in an Ozzy Osbourne song. What does that even mean? The entire point of that post is that if you're going to go with the "well known" route, why not actually take some well known characters who aren't Batman and Superman and actually do something with them? Wonder Woman is one of the most recognized female super heroes of all time, and they aren't doing jack with her.

Well, actually Marvel's Iron Man was NOT featured in the Black Sabbath song. Listen to the lyrics, they have nothing to do with Tony Stark and the Iron Man we are speaking of. That's probably why the singing is omitted in the end credits of the movie.

Yup!

I knew of the Marvel characters, but i didn't know anything about them as far as origins go. And i doubt the general public would have either. Same goes for Wonder Woman with me though, aside from a few episodes of the Lynda Carter show I know nothing about her. Marvel has done a lot to bring their characters to the fore of pop culture, and if they do it correctly, DC can make their lesser-known characters shine as well.

What's the point of having something new and fresh when they're carrying all of Nolan's people over to this film? Nol**** 2.0
