Batman Reboot very likely

It is very true that Mark Hammill will always be the supreme Joker. Hell, he's even started looking like him. Maybe they should just slather the grease paint on HIM and put HIM in the next movie.

I would like to see Nolan finish his story with Batman finally getting his **** together and end with him really standing up as the Batman we know from the comics. That way, rather than a reboot, the next director to pick up the reigns could skip the origin, maybe show it a bit in the opening via Incredible Hulk, and then jump straight into the new story. Maybe now that Nolan has had his ultra realistic gotham, the next director can start tweeking that same gotham into the gotham from the comics. Start bringing out the REAL freaks. I would love to see clayface or the killer croc operate in an unsuspecting Gotham grounded in reality. Those types of villians are par for the course in the comic gotham. Imagine the fright and panic those characters would insight in a more realistic setting, and how would a more realistic Batman even start to fight something like that?

That would be cool. Too bad Nolan's gonna kill him.

If no one has said it yet, what's likely going to happen with DKR is that for the first time, we're likely going to see Batman die...probably as a martyr.

Doing so will 'end the saga' and then the Batman franchise will be free to go in whatever direction they choose.

What happens next is all speculation - but here's to hoping that whatever happens that it turns out good.

If and when they do a new Batman saga, because a saga is the way to go , with all the bad guys he fights in the comics ( a single movie just isn't enough).

I hope they go for a 1930's style batman, Frank Miller style.

As for a justice League batman, if they keep batman in a modern style , I hope they go for the batman begins suit, because that one still kind of looks like a traditional suit.

Gabriel Macht should do Batman in this, seeing him in "suits" he should come close enough to Bale's version of Bruce Wayne.

I'd like to see a live action Mask of The Phantasm or just a live action version of Batman the animated series. That noir was so cool.

Yeah though Nolan's realistic approach was great, it wouldn't have given Batman's vast gallery of villains an opportunity to be explored to their full potential. I want to see some of the bizarre stuff, which can be tackled like in the animated series.

I think Mark Hammill looks more like Cock Knocker.

I know what I want isn't necessarily what will come next.
Yes, the great detective, the Dark Knight that doesn't disappear for 8 years at his peak, but is ever present over Gotham for years and years fighting "the war" that never ends.

So what actor would be best to step into the role? Any ideas?

Karl Urban? Goseph Gordon-Levitt? Fassbender? an unknown actor?

I wish they would take the James Bond approach and not redo the origin each time, just change the actor and keep going. That is what Marvel has said they plan on doing with Iron Man and the rest.

I think the reason for the reboot is that Nolan is stepping down and not directing any more Batman movies and if you were a director, would you really want to follow in Nolan's footsteps? Plus, if DC ever wants to do a Justice League movie they'd have to reboot the franchise because metahumans just don't work in the Nolanverse and without metahumans you wouldn't have much of a Justice League.

Not sure how many of these ideas WB is going to consider, but Batman being a master detective should be a key factor for the next installment of the Batman franchise and yes no more origin.

I agree. I'd actually like to see a batman movie that starts off with Bats already established in Gotham and make the movie a full-blown detective story. Have him do forensics and see things that the cops are missing. He needs to be Sherlock Holmes smart.

Have him utilize more little gadgets like smoke bombs and BATARANGS to stun the criminals. Really... the batarangs should be his main weapon to disarm assailants. No more WayneTech gadgets that will can be traced back to Bruce.

And for once, I'd like to have a little scene where we see Bats somehow sterilizing all the equipment he uses to try and get rid of any remnant DNA before he goes on his nightly patrols. That's always been a problem for me: in today's forensics age, if the cops pick up a batarang at a crime scene, they should be able to find a print or something on it (you always saw Bruce fondling the 'rangs in Nolan's movies while they're on display).

Ha - I guess that's the reason why everyone seems to know Bruce Wayne is the Batman in DKR...

Yeah, that worked out so well for Batman Returns and Batman & Robin

I don't think the actor playing Batman was the problem in those movies. It was the nipples on the batsuit, and if any casting was a problem, it was Arnold as Freeze.

I think if you didn't have to do an origin story every time you changed actors and directors, then you could actually get deeper into the characters.

Only unimaginative writers and directors think we need an origin story in order to understand why a superhero does what he does.

The reason it was included in the Nolan movies was because he showed the whole journey. It was essential to the story series he was telling.

However, it is not essential to all super hero movies... the character and the actions should be enough to define who the superhero is and why he/she does what he/she does.

You don't need to do another origin story Batman. Almost everyone knows his origin, just have him visiting his parents graves or show it as a quick flashback. To me, the audience want to SEE Batman, not Bruce becoming Batman

no its not so much a reboot as more of a continuation of the dark knight or i guess the legend. WB asked Nolan to do another one and he said he was done after three. Nolan has said he never expected to make 3 movies, Batman Begins was supposed to be a one off. but it was so popular that everyone decided to take another go and so on. anyways back to WB when he responded they said even without him that they were gonna continue with movies (no idea how many lined up) and this a for sure/confirmed. now Nolan may come back as a producer which would be great, keeping some of his vision in the next movies. and i would like to think that Gorden-Levitt will be the successor to the films. so heres hoping we keep these movies being awesome for years. in no way should the next films be Batman origins oriented.

update.. not sure how true any of this is (and not happy) 2016, but rumor is that they want to do another reboot to cast somenew for the JLA movie.. which is absurd. do somesearching to can find tidbits around.
