Batman Dark Knight Returns Armor Foam Build (noob here)

So I am going to try my luck at a foam build of the DKR armor.

After looking up how to make a foam vest, I also remembered that (after going to a local con) Vegeta has a similar build "vest" and so I looked at that and finally did the cuts that I needed. I also went on to make the shoulder pads! Thanks to a deviant art page (http://bluepandacosplay.deviantart.com/art/Shoulder-Pad-Tutorial-295166428). I will now start to connect the two front halves to the back two halves!View attachment 405545

So now here is everything (mostly) done for the chest piece. I still have to fine cut some parts! Everything atm is held by duct tape

Here are some clearer shots! I still need to fix the shoulders because my mannequin is quite a but bigger than me from when I built it last year! Today I will work on the gauntlets!

Did the border edge of the shoulder pads. Also cut the chest to be more of a vest so the should pads can rest can comfortably! Working on gauntlets now!

since my friends recommended that I make the gauntlets thicker, here ya go!

So the first picture shows how I rigged the vest for the cape (moving too far ahead but i wanted to see the whole thing! The next picture shows everything that will be sealed. and the last picture is of the vest with a neck guard! I wanted a neck guard cause I thought it looked interesting!

What are you going to use to make it look like metal when its completed? and are you going to make the glowing eyes??

So now I primed it with gesso paint. Its a thick primer that I can sand easily and the outside images are when I also plastidipped the armor too!

Time for spray painting. I decided to spray paint it metallic silver so now the armor kinda looks like a "medieval" type armor

If you don't want that "medieval" look and want something a little darker and more accurate you should use "gun metal gray" spray paint.

So because the con was a week away and my friend couldnt finish the helmet in time, I made a temporary cowl based off of DCOU. Also I tried pepakura for the first time and failed miserably. So as my base, I went to Target and got the kids batman mask! It worked!
