Hi my friends from the RPF. I recently got an 89 belt prop for a batman returns project that im making. I had this belt at a very affortable price at Ebay. The only thing is that the job painting was not good. So im trying to remove the spray paint that already has and im thinking to use laquer thinner. Since i dont know the effect that will have on my belt i stopped by the RPF to look for some professional or novice pointers from the members here. Please feel free to help with any suggestions i wil be very thankful guys.

I'm no pro at paint removal, but you could always go at it with high grit sandpaper and strip it down to re-prime and paint it. But that's just my novice idea.

My first attempt was to soak it in laquer thinner. It didnt worked. The paint is still stuck in it. :( anyways where can i get grit sand paper?

Well hopefully the thinner didn't damage anything. But you should be able to go to Home Depot and find some. I would suggest getting something between 400-600 grit if you want to be really careful. It won't strip off much of anything, but I'm assuiming you don't want to damage this belt in any way. And if you sand it right, by the time the paint comes off it'll be incredibly smooth. if you're going to repaint it you'll have to go over it just a bit with something rougher so that the primer has something to stick to.

So i follow what Mr. Fangoroth told me about using a grit to take out the paint job that my 89 belt had. These are the results so far. Thanks Mr. Fangoroth! Now my belt is ready for a new chance to have a better appearence!
