Batman 89 - Batcave Chair (Weird Aliens connection)

Regarding the aliens and batman starting point in this thread.......when batman was filmed they used the same stage that was used in aliens, as already mentioned so im guessing it went unused at pinewood for some years, from what i read some years ago when they went to the stage the batman bods found alot of the aliens set to still be intact........ So plausable the seat could have been from aliens and left there, and maybe modded slightly for batman. But thats just a complete theory there ;-)

The floortiles in the batman pics look very aliens related also

Another observation is the similarity pictured bewteen keaton in the chair with the screens and the pic of gorman in the apc......anyone else spot the similarity of the set layout around the computer area..........re worked set or complete coincidence onthe chair position to the computer screens

I have heard the Alien set intact story still with eggs, etc. I always thought it would be strange for a studio to leave a sound stage untouched for three years???????

The atmosphere processor scenes and the axis chemicals sequences were both shot in an old abandoned power station. That is probably where they found the old aliens hive stuff worked into the buildings catwalks and machinery.

The rest of batman and I assume aliens were shot at the pinewoods studios.

I'm wondering if the chairs were built for aliens, put into there prop storage and then pulled out and used for batman.

I'm going to get some clearer aliens screen caps soon and that should help reveal whether ther are indeed built from the same base chair... Hopefully. :)

How in the heck did you find this?????? :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :popcorn :popcorn :popcorn

I wish I could say that I have years of experience with these things and I drew on my extensive knowledge to answer the OP's question. But I actually just got lucky. I knew that the Batmobile was inspired by and built with aviation parts, so I figured the chair would be something related. I did a Google image search for "jet pilot chair" and that Trident pilot seat was right near the top. I compared the holes in the arm rests with the holes in the Aliens pictures and it seemed to match perfectly.

Other than the scissor-lift looking base, I would think someone with metal-working skills could build one of these chairs fairly easily. It's a pretty simple looking frame. Would make a cool project.

This is because Pinewoods never demolished the Aliens sets. When Tim Burton and crew arrived to film Batman they found the Alien Queen nest still intact and used some of the set as the Acme Chemical plant. Have a good read of the Batman trivia on IMDB it explains a lot of this.

I talked to a guy in the UK who restores these kinds of airplanes and he confirmed the match! Trident Jet Airliner it is!

I was hoping to locate one but they seem to only exist in the UK and shipping would be insane. I still wish I could find better pictures or some measurements so that I build a "close enough" replica to use as an office chair.

Hard stuff to locate.
