Back to the Future Part II

That's excellent!

Does anyone have the Oh La La graphics? Front and back cover. I had a good quality file once upon a time but I can't find it.

Here's a sneak peek of my Oct. 22, 2015 USA TODAY I'm printing on newsprint paper. The "Gang Jailed" version you see here has the Stouffer's Frozen Foods ad on the back, which is shown on several of the original props I found online. My "Youth Jailed" version will have the screen-accurate hotel advertisement on the back.

This is as accurate to the original prop as I could make it. I still need to do some color correction on the graphics to account for the darker newsprint paper, but overall it's looking pretty good.

That is awesome!! Are you making a run of those?...

I heard that USAToday was going to do something like this with their newspaper on the 22nd but I didn't know if it was going to be movie screen accurate or not? So if you plan on making more to sell, let me know.

Rymo Awesome, a run of these would be great? Are you planning on anything? Thanks.

If I can find a way to print them more efficiently, I may consider doing a run. But, for now, this is just something I’m doing to give to a friend of mine as a gift. He’s a huge BTTF fan, and I thought he’d really enjoy getting surprise BTTF2 newspapers on Oct. 22.

It was honestly more difficult than I had imagined trying to find a way to print these full-size on the correct type of paper. I contacted several print shops in my area, and none of them carry newsprint stock, nor do they print on newsprint (something about the paper being too thin for their printers).

I also contacted my local newspaper, but they said I’d need to print a minimum of several hundred copies, which was more money than I had planned on spending.

But, my local newspaper DID sell me a blank roll of newsprint paper (only cost me $1.50), which was a good start. I also have access to a large format printer, but the amount of ink it uses (and the cost of replacement cartridges) isn’t a very efficient way to print a run of copies for people.

I had also heard this, but I'm doubting that their version will be 100% screen accurate. There are several things on the original prop that may be considered slightly controversial nowadays given some events that have occurred in the last 25-30 years. The original prop was created before Princess Diana's death, so the the areas where it mention's "Queen Diana" may be considered, by some, to be insensitive if it were to be reprinted today.

Also, USA TODAY changed the dimensions of their newspapers back in 2000, so they're printed slightly smaller now compared to the larger size that would have been printed back in 1989, when the film came out. So, that's also something I'm wondering about. A smaller sized version of the BTTF2 paper wouldn't be screen-accurate either.

I sent you a PM Rymo. I look forward to your response. Thanks :)

I am interested!, you can put me down for wanting one! Awesome!!

I actually made my own "Youth Jailed" newspaper in photoshop, but a lot of the fonts are inaccurate. I was hoping to see one here lol.

Definitely interested. Looking forward to this run.

Here's my first test print. Unfortunately, the printer cut off the right side of the image, so I'll need to adjust those settings accordingly. I also need to brighten up the graphics a bit, and lighten the text a little as well. The text is printing darker than I'd like. I'm shooting for more grayish text, which would more accurately match the way a real newspaper looks.

I ordered few back issues of USA TODAY from 1989 for reference, and after taking a look at them, and making some measurements, it looks like my paper is a tiny bit too wide. So, my final print will be a little narrower than this one. As Roland mentioned earlier, I was hoping to grab the Dec. 22, 1988 issue of USA TODAY to harvest some back page weather graphics & advertisements from, but it wasn’t available for purchase from USA TODAY's online store.
