Back to the Future II: Marty's Jacket (the holy grail of BTTF props)

Your left or our left?
Anyway - I am totally in love with your work. I plan on purchasing this from you no matter what so please PM me soon with some details!!!

Oh.. whoops.. Ken is wearing the jacket... Im in the tux... Ok, cool Frosty... Ill give you a heads up.

I'm surprised how 'in demand' this is. But that aside, good job. It looks amazing.

It's such an amazing thing that has happened here because this hobby has been around for a long enough time now that you would have thought this jacket would have been succesfully replicated a long time ago - but it hasn't.
People have succesfully replicated all manner of Sci-Fi costumes and props but the very nature of this jacket, being made of rubber and of course the ultra-elusive "bumpy" red material has thwarted previous attempts time and time again.
It's certainly no secret that an incredible amount of time, effort and money were invested in this and it really shows. It's going to be tough on the bank account for many (including me) but considering how long many of us have waited for this - it certainly delivers, with no corners being cut and no compromises made!

This may be a little over the top to some members here, but I shall say it anyway.

Doc,
I would like to share a story with you, a short one but it is no way meaningless. Today is the 23rd of November, 2010 and I am 24 years of age. At age four, my father would not have endless hours of spare time to spend with me [and so it was much of a television upbringing in that respect] so he went and bought a copy of Back to the future [on VHS, I am sure], plonked me in front of the box and pressed play. That first movie was to prove the bane of his existence for many months to come, as I memorized each line in the film and would demand to have the movie on daily.

Looking back, I am unsure of exactly what it was that initially captivated me. Perhaps it was the de lorean, perhaps it was the plot, or maybe it was the lightning strike. The feeling I got from watching the movie was euphoric to say the least and from the first time the movie played, I knew that science fiction was my genre of choice.

Back to the future II is released, and no words could describe my childhood glee even though I was 10 when viewing it. The trilogy of Back to the future movies has affected my life in ways that I have no real words to describe, and I watch the movies on a constant basis.

I remember seeing this jacket for the first time and instantaneously thinking that if nothing else good happens in my life, I just want that jacket. Doc, I live in Byron Bay AUSTRALIA. It is the most easterly point of australia, and I would like to let you know that in no uncertain terms you have made my dream come true. This is now a possibility to me. I have no contacts, I have no idea where to start all I know is that one man has made it possible and now I must follow in his footsteps. If you were to sell these I would buy it, even just to see the level of craftsmanship and detail that has gone into making this Jacket. When I speak to my father next, I will show him what you have done- I'll explain that it wasn't just me who enjoyed the trilogy as a young man. Some people go all the way with their aspirations. Thank you Doc, even if just for the experience of seeing it come to life.

Doc,
Would you make a run for the rubber button that goes on the velcro, belt and cuffs? I'm thinking of adding those on to the jacket i got on ebay.

All I can say is the work and detail gone into this jacket is more awsome than awsome,, Bravo young sir :)

The fabric liner is not printed... Its actually a crushed rainbow dyed fabric that was then dyed black... The only places you can see color are inside folds and wrinkles of fabric... Its amazing... The more it moves around the more color is exposed... I would have never know this or believed it unless i had seen it in person... I looked around everywhere and asked about having it made and most places just scratched their heads and said "we dont do that kind of work"..

As for price... I dont even know myself... Im not sure how many of these jackets there will be... The amount of time it took to assemble this one was overwhelming... I received several offers for the jacket at the weregoingback event. The highest was 2k... But there will be an ebay auction for the jacket soon since the silent auction for it fell through at the event.

Anyway, heres a pic so you can get a look at how the jacket fits... On the left is Ken (the organizer of the event) and myself on the right.

I saw the jacket at the event. Great execution! I saw one other one there also. I dont know where they got it from, though. That event was awesome.

Tis a shame. I got tired of waiting for the real thing so i bought one of the knock-offs from eBay. Gotta have something in the meantime.

Sorry for the lack of update guys... The jacket in the picture above was already sold about a month ago... I am currently in the process of making another jacket that will indeed be sold on ebay. And for those who have asked, right now i dont have plans on selling any of the parts alone...
