Back to the Future 2 HC Jacket Mods

Nice! I'm sure the Plastidip will stick really well since its a rubber based material. Cant wait to see more!

Right now I'm searching for rubber sheeting to make custom pockets. I'm not sure what thickness I should get, but 1/32 inch seems to be alright. It's very cheap, so if it's not right, no big loss.

So I did my first test with the plastidip on a scrap piece and it turned out very well. The color is much better than the original light grey and it does not crack or peel even with a lot of bending and folding. Doing tests with abrasion made me find that if you scratch it with your finger nails hard or rub it against carpet it causes some slight discoloration. Very subtle. Once I get the vinyl dye I will do the same tests and compare the colors.

The color looks better and darker in person.

Hey! I have recently purchased this HC jacket. Looking to do the same or even just keep it for fun and completely make a replica. I also checked out the jacket fabric from ETSY and have to say it looks great. Have you made any progress on this build?

Cheers,

Scottie

Actually yes but just a little. I tested the vinyl dye and it is a little lighter in color than the plastidip but stands up against abrasion a little better. So what I want to do is put a coat of the vinyl dye first and cover it with the plastidip. But before I do that I will test that method first to make sure it doesn't react badly.

can you show pictures how it turned out and can we order the material on amazon? the pictures on previous post im unable to see them

Unfortunately I scrapped the project. I dont have a lot of time or space where I live. The material I got was also poor quality. It was like stuck together in a lot of places and when I got it unstuck it was warped.

Thanks for the update. Im having a hard time finding anybody who does a screen accurate jacket after 2015 it seems like no one makes them anymore other than halloween costumes store

Its a good base because the arms are fairly accurate and it is fairly light. You just need to get the red material. I believe the user Cavx has the capability to make it, but he is really busy with his Nike MAG Footwear bag so he might not be able to help you at the moment.

Bump. Also curious as to wear to get this red material.

Any updates on this MitasTouch ?

Would love to see some updates and pictures of where you're at with them now.
