How did I miss THAT memo!!! If what you say is true regarding pics of her topless all over the net... B) I just don't get this connection of how these online pics cause you to become disappointed in a movie made over 20+ years ago?
I mean, she's grown from that "sweet little girl" to a quite attractive & very beautiful woman in an industry which thrives on destroying innocent souls. Honestly, wouldn't you agree that it's far better for her to have a few nudie pics online (oh, & a nude scene on film every now & then
) is a helluva lot better than if she'd just ended up as yet another washed-up, drugged out former child star boxing it out w/ Tanya Harding in some lame FOX reality show? But, now that I think about it...

Yeah, I knew that long rant I did back there wasn't going to win over too many hearts & minds!
I just had to add my two cents into the mix, which is only to be taken for whatever it's worth on an individual basis. Actually, I'd tried to bite my tongue as long as possible (I swear), however, due to noticing more & more, of this rather astonishing growth in the number of "Magnolia fans" (see Kevin Smith's film "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back") who seem to have a very specific agenda focused on a strategic, linguistic raping of anything & everything AVP related, including a film no one's even seen yet, commonly because the latest films just aren't P1 or P2.
It's in my nature to encourage others to create & also express their own opinions. Whether you got what I was trying to say or got stuck on some askew interpretation, I still offer you my respect no matter what you thought. It's one of the best qualities held within the folks here who make up the Lair, being that we don't hesitate for a second when it comes to standing up & speaking our minds on any issue. I was only trying to point out that whenever there's such an abundant amount of negativity directed at one specific thing, or well...anything for that matter, this negativity will continue to thrive & flourish if its only stirred by further of the same type of negativity, until it overpowers any of its positive counterparts completely. Which can lead others all too easily to forget anything they may have at one time or another, actually liked & enjoyed some aspects about it in some way.
Funny how quickly I was referred to as a "Pred Nazi", while encouraging the shift in focus on AVP towards the POSITIVE. Interesting how those w/ such hatred for AVP can also breakdown such specific details that they've probably seen it just as many times as those who enjoy it!
Which is really more akin to a "Nazi" mentality...
Is it the one who attempts to encourage others to acknowledge that certain positives can exist?
OR...
Is it the one who attempts to encourage others to remain focused on matters of the negative persuasion?

Hmmmmmmm.... A dark side i see...
Well it happens to all familys, we can't all agree on the same thing, it would be a boring world.
AVP, like P series & A series had its good points (count em on one hand or less) and bad points (don't get me started)
Scar did end up looking like a little lost puppy @ the end but that was so the non fans(SHOCK, they do exist) would feel for his passing. He wasn't too bad for a new blooded.
In the original AVP comic this character was missed when he died!!, hell i shed buckets.
Ok the battles were far and few, the Celtic vs Grid was ok, not fantastic but watchable.
Preds vs Aliens on a Pyrimid was good, but....too short (it was a flash back?)
Yes we can debate the difference between P1-2 vs AVP Pred portrayal.
The late great KPH, man we miss you!!, was ultimate @ creature/character preformance.
Ian Whyte was ok, but we can't fairly judge the man until after the next show, 2 for 2.
I WAS anoyed at the design of the Alien warriors and the "lets speed up the life cycle cause we only have x amount of minutes to tell the story".
Also placing the alien on Earth WHY!!!!
Training ground in the unescapeably Pyrimid worked and made sense up to the point were the Aliens were at the base of the tunnel to the surface.
ADI have a good and solid handle on the creature FX, minus a few points.
The characters were more carboard than some of our armour!!
Charles Bishop Wayland was wasted, he could have been more.
Good to see the Preds @ the end take away their fallen warrior aka P2
Lets hope that AVP2 is not WORSE!!!

Threds about the perseeved downfall of the 1st film in certain areas are always going to become more prevalent with a new film getting closer,Now we all have different views on AVP, i liked certain areas of the film, but hated the way the PRED was portrayed.

I don't want to get excited just yet but the AVP2 Trailer could very well be online tomorrow! It's the full R-Rated version, as well. Colin spoke earlier this week on IMDB that the trailer could very well be out this week and we confirmed that with Fox. Tomorrow could be the day.
The trailer will also be attached to a film out this month called Death Sentence as well as Saw 4, and Halloween. The stuff about the trailer description is true, as well, I think. It's one cut of the standard AVP2 trailer. Not sure if we'll see that or not.

Whether anyone on this board realizes it or not, this thread, and the others like it appearing over the last week has revealed something I've been pondering lately----"Why does the discussion of a new film in the franchise stir up so much emotion?" "Why are Lair members (especially me) so concerned about it?" I think I have the answer.
Our never-ending pursuit of better and evolving predator suits somehow gains greater legitimacy when the movies and character they're based on are received well by the public at large via the movies they appear in. If the films are crappy, the character suffers and is less accepted by people. (Jar Jar Binks, anyone?) If the film and character is made well, public acceptance of the costumes we wear reinforces the image of the character we love. This is not to say that we need absolute public acceptance to justify our little hobby, but I think on a subliminal level, the movie-going public's love for a well made pred film enhances OUR love for the predator, and inspires us to greater heights in costume making. I think of this as being akin to people always wanting to be on the winning team.
So, if a pred film winds up being crappy, it takes the wind out of our sails to continue investing so much time and energy into something, if and when the studio doesn't. But---if it's a great film, it stokes the fires of creativity and breathes new life into the whole predator universe. It's not enough to simply just make a film of a predator, it's not enough to simply make a costume of a predator, there has to be a legitimate, well crafted story at the heart of the matter driving the whole thing. Whether it's the human body or a costume, they can't work without a soul.
A well made predator film creates and renews that soul. I think this is at the core of these discussions, and why this board is more than just costume making. Ya gotta have soul! Sing it, brothers and sisters!

Cool. Now that we know the ending, we don't need to go see the movie anymore. Save the $$ and spend them on Pred stuff.
I never liked the idea of a hybrid. The idea of a parasite that incorporates its host's DNA sounds ridiculous to me from an evolutionary point of view.

Not a logical comparison when ya consider the realities. Predator had what for an enviroment? A jungle. AVPs sets were far more elaborate. Predators was just..... a jungle. Special Effects in Predator was just the fireworks and cloaking etc. Far more Spec FX in AVP= more budget cost. Back in Predators days, actors didn`t make as much as they do now. List goes on.
The fact that AVP still made money is why we are even getting an AVP 2, which many seem to be looking forward to here. I liked AVP. Got it on Bluray. But it still FEELS like a popcorn flick. I still watch it alot tho. hehhhehhe
What I am hoping we get for FEEL, is more like what we see/saw in AL()EN or AL()ENS. A badder hardcorp feel with edge as apposed to what AVP delivered. AVP really WAS too cutezy. I can forgive AVP alot cause imho it being the 1st, I saw AVP more as a litmus test. They are not gonna throw all they got at it not knowing if it was gonna be a flop or not. Having said this, I sure hope AVP 2 turns some heads. But I can see FOX doing the wrong thing 2wice.
