October 2, 2006 - The formula to the Alien-Predator crossover sequel is simple: more guts, more gore, more violence. The producers appear to be narrowing their audience focus as they hope to make Alien vs. Predator 2 a profitable venture.
"I think the approach this time is going to be very hardcore," an enthusiastic Tom Rothman, chairman of 20th Century Fox, told the IESB.net website. "Very R rated. We believe that, this pass on AVP with these filmmakers [the Strause brothers] is going to be a lot closer to the hardcore experience."
Rothman also confirmed that the studio continues to examine the possibility of a third Predator film. So far, however, no such film is actively in the works. The studio would even jump at a chance to make Alien 5, should director Ridley Scott, who helmed the brilliant original, be interested in another.
The film will be helmed by directors Colin and Greg Strause. Both have been quoted recently as saying they plan to take the franchise back to its gritty horror roots.
Alien vs. Predator 2 is slated for an August 2007 release.
I sure dont mind in R rating on it !
