Marvel never asked for his permission It was only after seeing the redesigned Nick Fury in the first issue of The Ultimates that Samuel L. Jackson learned of the use of his likeness and contacted Marvel in order to secure the role of Nick Fury in any future Marvel movies.

ultimate line: a new comic line of several years ago, stating off from scratch. sort of a test to see what fanservice and extremes could do for sales. instead of average sales that avengers normal generate, it beat x-men numbers. in this universe, nick fury is a black man. besides, i hear that the nick fury we know and love retired anyway in the "normal" line of comics.

a awesome cartoon movie was made of the first story of the ultimate avengers, so you can get a taste of how things are to be, since the ultimate line outsells everything, the normal lineup slowly disappears and is replaced by all ultimate versions. get used to it.

That's not entirely true. With regard to Iron Man specifically, they're leaning Marvel Prime. In Ultimates, Tony is a mutant of sorts, his incredible genius explained by the postulation that his entire body has neurons throughout it which makes him capable of figuring out things almost no one else can.

I thought the trailer was great. It was great to see Joss Whedon's style of banter come across in that last exchange between Banner and Stark and also between Thor and Stark...I think Stark is going to be the heart of this movie somehow...

Can't wait to see it personally!

Are we sure that the one from THOR with the embossed lines wasn't a stunt hammer as opposed to a 'hero' hammer?

Every single one of them look like a drawing. I've been a hardcore Marvel Comics fan for years, and this is simply too good to be true. The adaptation work is so great it hurts. Never before a Marvel comic has been as well adapted as this. And to think that both Iron Man movies, Thor & Cap could be considered trailers for this... :eek

I also think that Iron Man is going to be a large part of this movie. IM has two flicks out and is arguably the biggest established part of the Marvel Movie Universe.

Robert Downey Jr. is also the biggest star of the bunch (well, ScarJo and Sam Jackson aren't amongst the main focus heroes).
